Hi,
I am new to this for.m. Our puppy is 3 months old.
She is adjusting well but already it seems like she needs some training to go for a walk like a proper doberman. Where do people take them for training. We saw a sign at the Vet but know the humane society and other places have classes. Our last dog was a Lab and he went to the Pet store for class.
Thanks for your input.

You can seek out personal trainers for a one-on-one training style (usually a little bit expensive, but well worth it) or like you said, some local Humane Societies offer basic obedience classes and even places like Pet Smart and Petco have training classes that offer the basics to you and your dog.  It's a great way to socialize your pup, also.  Just make sure that your pup is totally up to date on all vaccinations before taking her around other dogs.

Thank you Ziva's Dad.

Our pup is named Mindy.  She is as sweet as her name implies & also very smart like others of her breed.  She is definetly not one for a first time dog owner but is challenging even for a seasoned dog parent.  I'm thinking I will check with her Vet's office first.  Her Vet's sister is a long time Dobie owner so we are very fortunate!

Thanks again.

Do not miss out on local dog clubs either! many offer puppy school through advanced training! It is a great tool to socialize your pup and get to know experenced handlers and a WIDE range of dogs. Another positive is many of them have agility, rally, scent, flyball and show classes! take the chance to find a good local club!
