Yesterday my family and  i adopted a six month old  untrained female dobie shes gorgeus very sweet and loving a little on the active sife but she wasnt excercised alot ...its really hard walking her so far she followes whoever walks her but she seems to just want to run wherever you walk to! Its really cute and playful but shes big and she is a little intimidating to others how can i leash train her properly?

Pet Profiles

There are a variety of options available for dogs that pull when on a leash: Halties, No-Pull Harnesses, Martingales, and Pinch collars.

I have not tried the first two, but martingales don't work on Draco, so I use a pinch collar. Once he learns loose leash walking he shouldn't need the pinch collar.

The trainers have given me two suggestions. The first one is to change direction when he pulls ahead. It looks a little funny to watch, but seems to help. The other is to keep treats in my hand, make sure he knows they are there, and use those treats to keep him close and watching what I am doing.

What I am not able to do is to practice this several times a day in 3 - 5 minutes sessions.
