How valuable is the "leave it" command!?!  Anyone ever try to dap and paint baseboards with a dobe pup around?  How'd it go?---hehe.  I swear if I gave her a paintbrush she would have tried to do it.  Anyway, Fancy heard some leave it commands yesterday, and only has a few white whiskers.  She so loves to help her momma with the housework.  She's pretty good at rearranging stuff too--the laundry, the shoes, her crate-(she has a BIG rug in it that she likes to pull out thus dragging the crate around) and of course anything in an open trash can.

Leave it and drop it are the best things for them to know at this age even if you do get dirty looks!

Fancy and Steve the painters... lets just let them do it next time, huh?  Steve was very put out he wasn't allowed in the sun room when we painted it... I oil paint now and then, have a few projects going, one day Steve wanders into the living room and his whole side of his face is covered in pinks, blues, purples... I went off to investigate and he had "sniffed" my painting and whacked into it on his way out.. haha! Puppies!

We were painting some soffits for the new place and each time we would put a new tarp down under the saw horses, ( oddly enough called burros here in Mexico) Sofia would plop her royal self right smack dab in the middle.. she was covered with white spots and speckles of primer. She HAD to be in the middle of it all..

I've threatened at times to tie a mop to her nub to help keep my floors clean after she goes to her 'trough' to drink water.. WHAT A MESS the girl makes!!

They have to be in on everything, bless their hearts.. would you have it any other way?

The news reported yesterday that we had purchased Mexico's surplus electricity, however since the storm hit Mexico a bit harder they no longer have any power for sale. I'm in a really bad mood tonite, so I won't go any further on that one. Let's just say I favor Mexicans and Dobermans to most others. What was the movie? Script written about 10-15 years ago...? Lady Kate, who copied who ?, was the burro first or the horse? Miss Sofia, thank God for you and Steve and Leo and Fancy Pants and Little Miss Ginger! And Every Other Nub Wagger out there! If it weren't for your troublesome, time consuming, annoying little pranks, we would have so much less to laugh about!! Yes, you are Special little hound dogs, that I just would not want to be without!!!

You bring out the best in us!

I've been trying my darn dest to finish a winter coat I started for Leo about 3 months ago. This morning I had predicted it taking maybe an hour to completion; however, this little red monster kept crawling thru chairs strategically placed to keep him out from under my feet, crowded as they were under the sewing machine. For what ever reason, Leo has an enormous interest in the peddle that powers the sewing machine. Wants to add it to the chew list! But today, no real interest in that just wanted to be Velcro; which, I happened to be using to make his jacket. My eyes darted between the Velcro Strips and the Velcro dog who was trying to curl up as close as possible to my feet in about a 1 ft. square spot. I don't know how, but he managed to make himself a 1x1 fit!  About 80-85 pounds, 1x1 square.? how do they do that?

I would like it if my puppy wouldn't try to either rearrange or take ownership of everything in my house and where I work.....but at the same time, it's just so darn cute when he does it.  He's so proud whenever he gets something and then he tries to hide it, always in plain site of course.  But on his best days, all I have to do is give him 'the look' that means 'drop it' and he won't even pick up the item he shouldn't have and runs to me with his best most innocent face.  So yes, I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Hahaha, oh Leo! Don't you wish in those flash of moments when they are just too damn cute and funny you had your camera?  I'd love to see what his coat looks like when you're done.  Wish I was handy with a needle and thread.  Maybe you can make Steve's doberman Halloween costume this year.. huh huh? ;) Jk.

I was finishing a painting yesterday morning for Eli's sister-in-law and Steve came in, "MOM!!!" and came right up to the painting to snuffle with his nose.  He ran off before I could clean him up and he sported some teal paint for a little while.  He had to add his dober-kiss for his cousin... (it's for my niece's baby room).

Eli LOVES how much Steve wants to be in every project.  He gets a kick out of Steve's antics and if it takes him longer to do the yard work because of it... oh well...

Every time I try and sweep Steve thinks its his personal mission to attack the broom.  My little dirt piles go flying as he dives in to kill the monster-broom.

When I'm doing homework though, Steve comes over and rests his head in my lap, gives me the doberman nose-bump, and then realizes I'm not budging.  He flops down with a big dramatic SIGH and looks at me forlornly.

Jes, I was gonna say "you'll never believe this", but being a Doberman owner...you will!
Remember the 1x1 square that Leo had to work with last night? Well he had something this morning I had taken from him and I tossed it over by the sewing machine. The minute it left my hand I knew he was going to interpret that to mean I wanted to play fetch (actually I wanted to vacuum!) so he hops up on the couch and goes head first after the item, forgetting what a small space it was and was actually standing on his head/nose for a second until he could back out of his entrapment! Of course in that nanosecond I thought brown neck or back.
Whew!
You are one brave woman getting oils out around a young dobe boy! What colorful homes we have!

Rocky is great with 'Leave It' on walks but any other time he looks up and decides if he can hide what he has or sneak off to another room quickly before he will actually leave anything.  Once cornered he drops it and walks off in a huff.  I suspect if he could talk he'd be saying 'whatever, I didn't want it anyway'.
