my loxy had napped twice today, each for an hour...what's the normal sleep time in a day for a pup?

Hi Loxy

A 8 week old puppy is just a baby . They will sleep alot . When they'er awake ther'er 90 MPH getting into everything then all of a sudden , it's like someone flips the switch to off . I woundn't worry about the baby sleeping too much . I'd be more worried about the time when it wakes up and won't go to sleep . Then " IT'S ON ! and ON it will be . LOL

I thought you were saying he sleeps too much . Must be that ol' timers thing kickin' in .

Enjoy Loxy while he/she is still little . They don't stay little for long .

I usually tell my puppy owners that a new puppy has a "shelf life" of about an hour, and then they nap for a while.  Rinse and repeat.

It's amazing. You have this lovely little angel looking so innocent as they sleep. Then they wake up, stretch, go outside, come back in and it's like a different dog - little devils are into everything. Then the spring runs down, and you get your little sleeping angel back.

I am convinced that dogs sleep 20 out of 24 hours.

Let him sleep as much as he wants - puppies are very basic, when they are tired they sleep, when they are hungry they eat, when they have to pee they do..:)

there is no 'normal' amount of sleep....they are just like a baby, all different.
