I'm sooo  frustrated!!!  People around me think that Fancy should already be the perfect dog.  She's 25+ inches, and about 65 lbs. but only 7 1/2 months old.  People think that she should be perfectly trained by now....which she does, sit, downstayleaveit etc etc etc. but still working on manners.  She's still a pup full of exuberance.  She wants to be with her people to a fault, (says who, ummm people I live with), but when things get testy around here in the neighborhood, who wants her with them??  We all do.  Usually I send her in with my grandson, but sometimes she's with me when hubby is out of town.

Her manners aren't that great, bulldozes through unlocked doors, jumps on the bed uninvited (my fault), plays way to hard with her toys and anything she can get ahold of, duh, did you forget to put up your shoes????  Um, did you all forget how do live with a puppy? APPARANTLY... oh, and the zoomies..

One night, hubby was out of town, one of my little dogs thought she heard something and barked very loudly, Fancy got up and literally stood over me until she felt all was safe.. a 7 months old pup, good girl...  Hubby had major heart issues last night,(he wouldn't let me take him to the hospital, trust me I begged)  he took the day off today, Fancy wouldn't leave his side yet he kept bidding her away... she didn't get it why he would do that.....I don't get it either.  Hubby's in love with the min pin who sticked with him also, Fancy does do the same thing on a much bigger scale. OHHHH, I'm sooo frustrated!!  The MinPin was supposed to be "my" dog, Fancy was supposed to be his... guess what  LOL, I'll take it!

Wendy.. How I hope your husband will be okay... why in the world are some men so hesitant to go to the doc?? Chest pain is a red flag and guess what..??Fancy knows it too...

Their protective instincts are just amazing, no matter what!

Prayers for the hubster.. kudos to Fancy and the min-pin

I think you got the best of that deal!

I would probably ask them if they had perfect manners when they were 3 to 5 years old.  Why does no one expect a toddler/young child to be perfect all the time, yet expects a puppy to be?

(But I'm well known to be a sarcastic wench )

I'm sorry to hear your hubby is having heart issues - maybe you could get him to the car, bop him over the head & "kidnap" him to the hospital?  Hope everything is okay!

Oh how I know that!! Steve is still very much a puppy and he is the sze of most adult dogs. We don't forget but sometimes family and friends do. Hope hubby is ok!

Oh Wendy, God bless y'all! I'm sorry y'all are going through all of this. I totally agree with Katie, animals KNOW! I have a service dog, and that's what I will be training Sophie for. Your husband really needs to go to a doc or hosp. There is so much going on here in our town and area right now, I think the moon has everything to do with it. Sending prayers!!

Update:  Hubby is now in the hospital overnight for tests.  He had a bad enough day today that he finally got scared enough.  I've been terrified.  My first husband, my kid's dad, dropped dead in my livingroom of a massive heart attack. Kinda been there, done that, no thanks.....  The hospital is pretty close to the house, so I've been coming in for a few minutes to get something, then gone again.  I've been gone most of the day, but my daughter came home and my grandson has been here after school so the dogs were alone only for a few hours early this afternoon.  Now NONE of my dogs are leaving my side tonite, it's a great comfort.  I'm gonna pet and kiss some soft furry ones tonite.

OK, the dogs are soooooo not understanding this, I was gone all day today.  Kinda same thing as yesterday as to people being here.  To my surprise, the couch etc. are in tact.  Some shredded paper and stuff but that's usual, LOL.  Good girl. ... Oh but the wagging nubbies when I came home...

He's getting arthroscopy tomorrow and a possible shunt.  The stress test put him down. He's a workaholic is about out of his mind bored.  Me too, all day at the hospital. I"m hungry, oh yeah, I have to eat..   btw, I'm going through computer/Gentle Doberman detox...

Wendy.. What part of California are you located?

Can you get a dog walker to come in for a bit so you can spend time with your husband and not worry about Fancy and Buster?

Promise you'll try and get some rest.. You will need it for the un-patient-patient.

Let us know what we can do.

Thanks Kate and all, that's a good idea.  I have a friend that just moved back to this town that's a dog lover, maybe I'll ask her.

To top it off, I got a damn parking ticket yesterday.  Hubby's not gonna hear about it for a few days I'm thinking..

Home now tonite with the dogs.  Seems they've saved all their zoomies till now, but I so don't mind.  Daughter (Tiffany) told me what they've done today.  Unmade my bed, picked garbage cans, cried when they saw me pull up and leave again, on and on, but not a thing major.  Tiffany's room has been always off limits to the dogs.  She's a  MessyMarvin and who knows what fun stuff they would find in her room.  She told me that for a nanosecond she left her door open.   She came back to it with Fancy and Buster sitting side by side just inside her door.  They looked at each other, scoped the perameter, and looked at each other like, "where should we start"  LOL

The back door is open so they can go in and out, and there's plenty of food and water.  They're really doing well. Except when I try to get up in the morning, have to unload the 'black and tan clan' off of me.  God bless 'em.  footnote... Mystic sleeps by my head  (yeah little rescued stray terrified dog).  Fancy is as close to me as she can. She now knows the meaning of the word MOVE and Buster sleeps with my grandson, the warmest room in the house.

Just posting this because it's blowing my mind how good and dealing with this that Fancy's been.

Update: Hubby had a stent put in yesterday and was feeling great.  He had a pretty severe episode last night so we're waiting to see if and when he comes home today. He's really had it being in the hospital, today is the 5th day.  I keep mentioning that someone outta check MY bloodpressure.  We have friends that have been incredible support.  I need to take my computer with me to the hospital, I click on something on this site and see 15, 24 new posts etc.... I'm getting so far behind!  LOL  OH, and I'm really beginning to hate my cell phone.

Fancy gets more beautiful everytime I look at her.

Loads of healing prayers for your hubby and sure hope he gets to come home soon---seems like that would take away much of the stress factors, doesn't it.  You just concentrate on getting him back to 100% and love on your doggies when you get the chance to---they'll understand.
