I don't think this is gernally a problem, but it caught me as odd so I thought I would ask it here...

My wife and I have taken in a beutiful 8-9 week Doby. Now I am going through the bonding motions and always try and stay nearby the puppy. Well, this morning while my wife was getting ready for work, I was not in the room and it was just my wife blow drying her hair and Baby. I guess Baby had to urinate and with the bedroom door closed and Wife didn't see she went. But she specifically walked into her cage and urinated on the bath towel in it. Usually, she goes right wherever she is; never anythign sneak or hiding.

Not sure if this either good or bad, it just struck me. Ideas? Her way of not liking cage?

I appreciate any and all opinions/advice

Hi Joel// at 8-9 weeks, Baby doesn't even know she has to go potty.. there's no control .. that's why they need to be taken outside every half hour or so til they learn where their 'bathroom' is.

I do think it's a little odd that she used her crate as normally dogs will not urinate where they sleep.. it might have been because she just needed to go.. Try the half hour thing for a while.. then let her wait an hour.. etc.. each time make a big deal out of the 'success'..

hmm every half hour? i did not knwo that. I have had her almost a week and she never went that often. all of a sudden this morning she went like 5 times in 2.5 hours.

I would assume then, she is becoming comfortable in her settings...?
