Charlie is my first Dobie (13 wks), but my brother has one so I am familiar with the level of energy and naughty...at least I thought I was. He is so sweet to everyone, which I am very happy about, but all he seems to want to do is bite me. I have tried the things the trainer told me- the spray bottle, the pennies in a car, the compressed air, ignoring him, yelping when he bites, etc. Nothing really seems to phase him. I believe we have an issue with which one of is the Alpha, but I don't know how to fix that. I am definitely in need of advice. I know he needs lots of exercise, but when we go out to play and go on walks he just pulls and tries to eat rocks, trash, whatever he can find. We are going to training once a week as well, but I am the one that obviously needs to do something different, I just don't know what. He is not a bad dog, just wants to be the boss. I am also having issues with him peeing in the house. He will go 5 minutes after we come in from outside. The other day he peed on the vet and his harness, then peed in my backseat, then peed on the floor when we got home- all within 30 minutes. He holds it when he is in his crate at night or if I have to leave him for a couple hours, so I don't know why he won't hold it or go to the door when he has to go all the other times.

Your puppy doesnt hate you, he's just being a puppy that is allowed to get away with being a brat.  He is biting you because that's how puppies play with each other.  He has to be taught that you are his boss.

Your pup is picking up on this, and has decided to be the boss of YOU if you arent the boss of him.

Does he know any commands at all yet?  Even "sit" ?  If so, make him sit before anything at all that he sees as a 'good thing' happens.  He wants attention? SIT.  Then pet him.  He wants to play with a toy? SIT...then give him a toy to play with.  He wants to eat? SIT....the he gets fed.  If he knows other commands, throw them in also just to mix it up.  Let him KNOW that all good things come from you, and only if he does what you are asking him to do.  That's at least a start.

I have the same problem, we live 4 persons in the house and it is only me who have this problem. I also have tried commands before she started to do something, but it does not hepls a lot. She continue doing her thing after she gets what she wants. But I understood one thing, that it is because, as DJ's Dad sad, she is a puppy and she plays like this. On the other hand my dobbie feels close to me, it is only me who she protects, she is the most happy for me when we come home.

So your dobbie acts like this because he thinks that you are his mummy. You just have to wait for your dog gets older. But of course you have to shouw him who is the boss (I still have the problem here). :)

Thanks :) Good to know it's not just me. He does always get excited when I pick him up from the puppy daycare place. He's pretty sweet as long as he gets enough play time, i have noticed.
