I have a 9 week old little angel who is the light of mine and my fiancee's eye...she is growing up beautifully, but she has recently starting rubbing "herself" against my legs and feet in the mist of playtime and she only does it to me...should I be worried that she may go into heat extremely early or is this normal?? Thanks for any feedback!

At 9 weeks old, you can be pretty SURE she isnt coming into heat---on larger breeds of dogs, that wont happen until between 6 months and 9 months of age, usually.  She is just being a puppy, but if I were you, I'd immediately start to discourage it from happening, and re-direct her to playing with a toy or something.  Rule of thumb is never allow your puppy to do anything you dont want it doing when it's an 80 lb adult.

Thanks for your response, I know right now she is way to young to go into heat..but as you mentioned the larger the breed the sooner it can happen. And since she is a girl I found it odd, she sometimes will hump mine and my fiancee leg, but only when playing, if those aren't available it will be her pillow or toys...never seen this in a girl..have you?

Both males and females are known to do this...it's no big deal.  Still, I'd discourage it.

There is a female boston terrier in that comes into my office who will hump and lift her leg to mark!  She is definetly the Alpha even though she is only 15 pounds.  We all laugh at her and say that she is a big man in a little girl's body!  LOL!

In all seriousness,  please listen to DJ's Dad and discourage any behavior you find unacceptable. Just be calm and stern, she will catch on quickly.
