It has been raining for 2 days now. DEXTER HATES THE RAIN! "You can't walk on wet grass!!! You might get your paws dirty!!!"

He wont go for walks and the first day he only peed (he was very quick) when I took him outside.

Yesterday we played the same game. He rings his bell, I take him out, he sees the rain and flat out refuses to get of the porch!

We must have done that about 20 times yesterday. I can't get him to go out at all. Pushing and pulling wont work either! If I do manage to get him into the rain he will just stand there like a statue till he finds a way to get past me and back inside.

There is only so much a 7 month old can hold inside... and at 8pm, 2 minutes after I tried to take him outside BIG PUDDLE AND PILE ON MY KITCHEN FLOOR!

I know that it should be my fault when he has an accident in the house, but this time I am convinced that it is not!

I have no idea how to handle this! I seems like the rain will not stop any time soon and it is going to be muddy out there for a while!

Dear Dexter and Kaiser.. Come on kiddos.. it's not too late to train your humans.. They are smart and they learn quickly.

Loki hates the rain as well, he just peeks his head out and turns around. So I have to shove him out and refuse to let him in until he goes. He acts as if the rain is death coming to get him! I can command him to "peepee" and he will go, we have not worked out the poop yet.

Soooo... UPDATE!  Since Dexter is refusing to go outside and left me "Presents" in the kitchen. I decided to keep him off the couch and away from the 'happening' in the house. I spent 10 min in the bathroom to organize a shelve... walked back into the living room AND FOUND TURDS ON THE COUCH!!!

If I don't let him on to the couch he poops on it??? Like... "If I can't enjoy it, neither will you!!!"

What am I suppose to do now?

Rocky doesn't love hard rain either but I just shove his butt off the porch and block his way back on until he goes.   As soon as he's done he can get up immediately and then we get the fun paw cleaning / drying....and then a treat

My big ole red boy doesn't go out alone in the rain, but will go if I do.  Lady Kate, you are too funny.  At least my dog lets me have the umbrella.  The funniest I ever saw was a man who covered a refrigerator box with plastic and cut a door in it for his dogs to use like an outhouse.  He even had a cut out of a moon and a howling dog figure in his doggy outhouse.    Then he video taped his black & tan using it!

Isn't it amazing that they all don't just melt?  Mine won't go past the covered area of the large back porch when it's raining.  However, grab a leash and ask if they want to go for a ride.....what rain, it's raining?, I'm not getting wet, let's go to the car, come ON MOM!
