Cute, he looks just like my Lou. Hey I wanted to ask since you have a blue as well have you had to deal with any skin conditions? I know they are know for having problems and now mine is slowly losing the hair on his back and he has very flaking skin. I have him on a premium food and I bathe him in high quality shampoos, I even spray his coat with miracle coat (tea tree oil) but nothing seems to be solving the problem. I guess you can only help manage the problem. Any ideas?

i had some skin issues when he was young...little white specks that i could pick off...the vet had me use nizoral shampoo...(human...in drug store or wal mart)..it worked...the only skin issue i have now is some faded spotting on some of the hairless parts....the leg pits are almost hairless....and he has thes little markings down the inside of the leg....vet checked...said just cause he is a blue he thought..my big thing is without the undercoat of the red or the black and tan....i have a lot of scarring issues....blue has about 5 scars at least 2 inches long...and over fifty tooth marks from his brother....yesterday i got home from a trip...took them out to the field...they did not play that hard i thought...but both had blood marks...just lil ones.....i think the blue needs more skin maintenance....i dont bath them only 3 or four times a year.....am i the only dsp (dobie scab picker) here or is it something you must confess too ....its yucky...but i can't help myself....ma boyzzzzzz...

Poor blues...
In one of the books i have read it states that it is down to the weimeraner gene that is in the doberman which cause this complaint. Not sure if true but interesting so do weimeraners get it also?
... Also been looking at this site  http://www.blitzkrieger.com/breedhistory.html
The breed has certainly come on in a hundred years ;D

When Princess comes up for her petting time (reminds me by putting her nose under my arm and nudging upward), when I feel them, I do pull some off. Red does play rough, as she does, but he has size and range, so he doesn't have too many scabs to pick off.
