Hey all!  I'm taking Milady to the vet tomorrow & will get their take on this.  MM talked about this when I got Milady but the paperwork they gave me doesn't really match the physical aspect of her ribs.  On one side, at the bottom of the rib cage her ribs seem to flare out rather than curving in.  MM had her X-rayed & the tech who read them diagnosed "pectus excavatum"  (sounds like a bad Harry Potter spell!!!  Too many days spent with teenagers & not enough with adults!)  What it really looks like (according to my husband) is that she might have gotten kicked when she was a puppy & the ribs healed incorrectly.  MM gave me her X-rays & I'll take them with me to the vet, but I thought I'd get this out there to all of you who have bred & raised puppies.  Have any of you heard of this, & if so what should I expect if this does turn out to be the problem?  (I'm kinda hoping it is the problem because if it does turn out she got kicked I will be seeing RED!!!)

Gosh Dabbles.. I hate to hear that. Have never heard of Pectus Excavatum. Does it seem to interfere with her breathing? She is so lucky to have you to love her and care for her.
Please let us know what your vet has to say.

Well, it turns out my vet doesn't think it is P-E!  For a full update see Milady's thread under "Tell Us About Your Dogs".

I don't know how to post a link to get you there so I'd best go back through some of Rgreen's posts.  I think I remember seeing one about posting links.  If I find it I'll try to use it in another "reply"  :)

Posting links. With the Gentle Doberman forum posting box open in one tab, open a new tab and navigate to the site and page to which you want to post a link. Then in the GD posting page click on the third icon from the left in the third row of icons above the posting box (the one that looks like a world and is to the right of the one for posting images. It will post the start and stop URL codes with the cursor flashing in the middle. Then go to the tab for the page you want to link and copy the URL coding in the white box at the top of the page. Right now when you are reading this it should have the GD logo and http...gentleldoberman.com... in it. When you move the cursor onto it, the cursor becomes a vertical line (similar to the one in the posting box), right click and then when it is highlighted, click on copy in the pull down menu. Go back to the GD tab and right click (cursor is already between the start and stop codes, and then click on paste in the pull down menu.

It will not turn blue and be active until you either preview or post.
