So is not really a problem and my 6 year old lab mix doesnt seem to be bothered by it but I am ondering why Bella is doing this. Every chance she gets she sits her rear end on Dusty's head. Is this a Im gonna be the boss thing?

That's a different one! It could be. I know my 6 year old male Red, likes to sit on my feet, which I do not permit, because it hurts (he weight 120 pounds). My 4 1/2 month old Princess (a week older than your girl) like to try to put her head over Red's neck, but she had a hard time doing it (when she does her front feet of off the floor).

When he lays down, she's more into jumping on him and tussling with him (when she's not biting him). He has been real good with her, although when she cranks up the intensity so does he. After a while I have to call a halt, because it's one think to have a 33 pound puppy carrying on, but the 120 pound adult is too much.

She could be just trying to coax Dusty into playing. I think it's too early for her to try to assert dominance. From the name, I assume Dusty is male, and it is very unusual, but not unheard of, in the canine world for a female to assert dominance over a male, especially an older male.

It is truly amazing what abuse an adult dog will put up with from a puppy. But, in the canine world in the wild, only the Alpha Male and Alpha Female mate, and all the other members of the pack become aunts and uncles and share responsibility for the raising of the pups. When you brought the pup into the house, Dusty is just following instincts in helping to train Bella. This situation actually makes our jobs easier, as they entertain the baby for us.

Well actually Dusty is a female and honestly I dont think its a I wanna play thing. When Bella wants to play she will pull her ears and ounce on her until she plays with her.  This seems to be happening most when they are relaxing in th eevening or waiting at the gate to come back in the house, she just will walk over and purposly sit on her head.  Dusty doesnt react ..

Ok, it may be an attempt to take dominance from Dusty. Normally it is manifested by putting their neck over the next of the other dog. If the dog receiving this does not react, then the dog taking the action will become dominant.

This is something they have to work out. Dusty could be biding her time until the pup is older, and then she'll put her in her place. I don't know that I would leave them on their own together, however. I won't leave Red and Princess on their own without supervision as their play quickly gets out of hand.

Ya know,

Tank and us have a few problems we are still trying to work out.  He is now 8 months and he has a butt fetish as well, as I like to call it.

He'll walk up to you, turn around, and plant his butt directly on you... Your leg, your butt, your feet, your face, your hands, you name it, he does it.  He definately know's who is in charge in the house, so it realistically, cannot be a dominance issue with Tank at least...

He also does this with the two other live in dogs in the house too.  He'll butt them to death.  Weather they are sitting, laying down, standing up, whatever, butt first...

If he wants to play, he'll climb on top of them (they are smaller than he is at 8 months...), nose them, jump around them ect...

So, your not alone in the Dobermine Butt Fetish issue. :)  Maybe we can get some more people to tell us about thier butt fetishes and maybe work it out.

Here's hoping!

Rocky doesn't really do that,  he will occasionally sit on my foot but I think he's just trying to sit close to be petted and my feet get in the way cuase it's only once in a while.

When Laith is playing with other dogs he does something similar. When he is barked or snapped at, he simply turns around and walks his butt into their face. I was in shock the first few times I saw it, but our trainer told us "kids learn stuff at the playground". I am still not sure exactly what it is, besides showing who's boss!

Skye does not like to sit on the tile in our house-  Maybe the floor is cold and this is the only place to sit that is warm - you know their bottoms are a little exposed   LOL

Sofia will always find some kind of fabric sumpin' sumpin' to perch her royal tush on.

I was folding towels once and one dropped onto the floor and yup.. she plopped herself right smack dab in the middle.

Our floors are saltillo tile and yes, they're cold and I have them waxed every week, so they're slippery, so if she sits, she skids.. that's why she's made up the game of 'sliding into home..' will take a running start, hit the throw rug with her front feet and slide as far as she can.

Have tried to get a picture of it, but no can do... and while we're on the subject, how do you guys get pictures of your kids in the body of the post??? All I can do is add them to Sofia's Gallery, and they're kinda little.
