My puppy Bella (14 Weeks) has demodex mites that the vet said was passed on to her from her mother.  She is really balding on her head and in some parts of her body.  The vet said that her hair probably will grow back but possibly not in some places where her hair follicles may be damaged.  She is on ivectom (sp?), medication.  Has anyone had this problem and if so, did the hair grow back?  She is sweet, but looks like a little strange because of her missing hair.  :-[

Well since no one has responded, I thought I would follow up with my original post since someone might have this problem too, and it may help them.  Bella was beginning to loose a lot of hair and itching incessantly.  We took her back to the vet and now she has a secondary skin disease caused from the mites and her scratching herself sometimes to the point where she bled in some spots.  She is still on Ivect. and now she is on missing link which I have to sprinkle into her food, she is on an antibiotic, Cepholox, on an antioxidant, and special shampoo and conditioner.  I also give her a vitamin E pill for her skin.  She is beginning to itch less and less.  Hope this may help someone, although I hope no one else is going through this mess.  I think the breeder took me for a ride and will not return my phone calls.  That's what you get when you do not deal with a reputable breeder.  However, she is a love and I will do anything for her to make her better.

I just read your message  - you poor thing!  No, I don't have any answers for you, I've never experienced what you're going through.  I'm only responded because I felt so bad for you and Bella.  I have a nine month old, Kaine, who is experiencing a slight hair loss problem, about the size of a half dollar.  Nothing like Bella.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help to you but I hope Bella is doing better.  She is a lucky girl having such a caring and loving owner.  I wish you all the best.
