Hi everybody,

My name is Denise and myself and my husband Josh just adopted our first Dobe, Madde, a little red girl born 5/25/08.  We're newly located in Peoria, AZ (NW Phoenix) with our 8yr old male Golden, Henry, and soon to be with our also 8yr old kitty, Foofy.  She's arriving by plane with my mom from Cleveland, OH our hometown.

We did a lot of research before getting our little girl and picking her breeder.  Just so happened that the one we liked the most was only about 35 min away.  Because of this we got to visit her from when she was about 3 wks old.  She’s adorable, funny and super smart (sometimes I think too smart).  She’s very attached to us already.  Her mom delivered her & 2 other siblings naturally, but because of their larger size had a c-section for the remainder of the litter.  Mom wasn’t totally recovered to nurse the puppies right away, so she was hand fed and they got a lot more attention from people than they normally would have.  I can only assume this has something to do with why she especially hates being alone and would much rather be in my lap than doing just about anything else.

She loves her big brother Henry and luckily he tolerates her and sometimes even humors her and plays.  As great and helpful as our breeder is, I’m hoping this might be a place to get a little different perspective and help to survive this sweet little monsters first year or life :)

That's one cute little pup, and great photos too. Did you take those?  :o

One thing we need more of on this site is good pictures. If you have any you wouldn't mind me using let me know, especially if they're that good.  ;)

Thanks :)  Yep, I took them a few afternoons ago out on our patio and in our front yard.  Didn't care for the bush and part of the house in the one, hence the photoshopping  :P  OMG I've got loads of pics already... and we've only had her for a little under 2 weeks.  I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to the pictures.  Helps that she's pretty much always doing something cute that makes me go run for the camera... You're welcome to use anything you want!  Just tell me what you're looking for and I'll see if I've got something to go - and if I don't I can probably make/take one.  Obviously it's only going to be "puppy dobe" for a little while but if you need something with big dogs, I can try to get some when we go to the breeders for visits and training.  We're going to start practicing Schutzhund with some of his dogs until munchkin is old enough.  All 12 of his dogs are gorgeous so I'm sure I could get a good pic or two.

Anything I can do to help!  Reading the posts on this site have already saved us from jumping off a cliff several times over!  ;D

WOW Alpha, you actually like someone's pictures? What about the text? I thought you said that ruins photos?

Anyway, I like them too. That's one good looking dog. They're so sweet looking at that age - hides their evil.

OK, first - What I was talking about was photos for use on a website. The best thing for me is a raw image I can size and optimize for display on the web. Also, if text is in the image, search engines can't read it, so it's best practice to put the text in the HTML.

Second, the text MaddeMama used and how she placed it is classy and nice. You could take either of those photos and sell them. The photos you're talking about had cartoonish text that ran over the dog in the picture.

Third, it's hard to screw up a good picture. The two above are both pictures of dogs... as apposed to pictures that have a dog in them - if you know what I mean.

Thanks MaddaMama, that would be great. Photos are one of my two weaknesses running a website. One is the fact that I nearly lack an artist's flair for layout and style. The other is getting / taking photos. I know what a good photo looks like, I understand the theory, i could probably even write a lesson. the problem is when I get behind the camera - i think I'm just missing the skill. I could also blame my worthless camera too. The way I've gotten all my good pictures has been with either luck, or my usual method of just framing things up and beating the crap out of the "shutter" button (digital). I've found that if you take enough shots you eventually get one that's not of the dog's butt.

It's great you're involved in Schutzhund. I know our Schutz article needs some pics. I want to add a real training section to the site, so if you get some pictures of training thats great.

I'll be busy for a few weeks on another project, some heavy code. But I plan to redesign our site here. Currently it's sort of a smattering. I hope to make it look nicer, make it easier to use, and add some other systems including a breeder index and a system that will allow members to build a little website for their dog or breeding activities and so on.

I'll let you know for sure though. until then feel free to send me any photos or suggestions of where to put them, like if yo see an article that could us a photo you have.  :)  Thanks!!!

Oh-yeah, that's good Photoshopping too!!

::) Sure. Isn't that the project you'll be done with in a few weeks for the past few months?  ;D

Thanks Horse, we love her - you're so right about the cuteness and the evil though... I just don't understand how something that sweet and loving could be SO BAD!  ???

Actually, I have some pics of training already.  My husband hopped into a bite suit during one of our visits before we even decided for sure to get Madde.  They're nothing spectacular, but I might be able to clean a few up to look decent.  Let me just check with Steve @ Family Dobes to make sure it's ok that I plaster his kids all over the internet.  I'm sure he won't mind, he's great :)

:P No... I was studying a new design pattern. Now I'm working on another project. I'll be redesigning Gentle Doberman soon enough.
