I found this website because I was searching for info on the Warlock Doberman....boy what a bashing I got!! My Harley is large, let me tell you, massive. I am not sure how tall he is but he tips the scales at 104lbs. He is about waiste high to me and I am 5'3", so I wanted to see if that made him a Warlock, needless to say he is just an oddity, and actually not breed standard. Well, boo on that. I rescued Harley from the humane society, about 8 months ago. He is supposedly pure bred akc all that jazz, I have none of the papers, but he is such a joy!! What a silly guy. The things he does, he will "attack" (me and my fiance call it "dancing") his bone before he lays down to chew it...these noises come out of him, deep guttural noises, when he lays to sleep, engine breaks or whale calls...in the middle of the night, it is a hoot. I love this guy so much, he is such a baby so needy and loving and just wants to be petted and loved on. But his mean dog act...watch out!!! If you do not greet him or he senses your fear, he is not a pretty sight. Which I can't say is a bad thing, if he feels you are not meant to be in the house, he is gonna let you know. My Guardian. He has a docked tail, his little nubbin, and natural ears. I am personally a fan of the cropped, gosh they are so FIERCE looking, but I have grown to love the floppy, takes the edge off I think. My father had a doberman when I was a baby, Lucifer, who was my first "Guardian" and I have wanted my own Dobie every since. I am so glad we decided to check out the humane society. What a wonderful dog and breed. Whose got the best dog in the world?? DOBIE OWNERS!! I am very proud of my Harley and the breed itself. My home will always be home to a dobie.

Hey Dobie Mom and welcome to the GD forums. I also have a very large Doberman who stands 29" at the shoulder and at his peak weighed in at 147 pounds. When the vet and I were discussing his weight and the fact that I was only feeding him 3 cups a day led to a blood test and the discovery that he has a thyroid condition. With medication, more exercise and controlled diet, he is down to a little over 100. I call him my big lovable lunk. My late sister used to call him Clifford, his actual calling name is Red. His sire was named Rusty, an name that I liked, but did not want to duplicate.

Princess, my red female who is almost one year old weighs 75 pounds and is normal sized, but looks small next to Red. There is a lot to love, but of course they counter surf with ease since they are eye level with the kitchen counters.

On the main page of Gentle Doberman there is a box titled "About Dobermans" and under that menu, "Kind and Color" and in turn under that a menu with the last item labeled "Large or Giant (Warlock Dobermans)". It is an informative article. My first exposure to the term was from a back yard breeder who told me her blue male was a Warlock. I decided not to breed my female to him and in fact decided to find my own male who was a normal sized male.

I got Red from a local S. Georgia breeder and I knew he would be large as both dame and sire were large as well. Red has had some problems because of size, and is not nearly as quick and agile as Princess is and never has been.

Both the Gentle Doberman article and one on the DPCA website point out that the term most likely comes from Champion Borong the Warlock who was a popular Champion in the late 50's and early 60's. The irony is, he was reported as having excellent conformity, which means that he was not outsized.

Regardless, enjoy your big buddy, he doesn't care that he doesn't conform, and Red doesn't either. Keep a close eye on him so to pick up any early signs of health problems. Every time I have occasion to take Red to the vet's office, I have him weighed. He will be weighed again next Friday as my crew will be boarded next weekend.

I really would like to capture him running...but my camera dosnt have a fast enough shutter speed. Grrrr :)

When you first go to http://photobucket.com/ you are offered the opportunity to sign up for a free account. You then sign on with a userid and password. When your page opens, there is a blue bar in a box in the upper center of the window that you click on to upload pictures and videos. When you click on that, you get a navigation box to navigate to the location of the photo to be uploaded. I many times move the photos I am going to upload to my desktop to ease this navigation. When the upload is finished, you are asked to give it a name. There are options about tagging and adding a description, but these are optional.

If you would let us know how far you have gotten many here can help.

Alright. With a comment box open in GentleDoberman, open a new tab and open your account in Photobucket. Their process looks like it has changed a little bit but not significantly and it could be this new Firefox. When you place you cursor on the photo, a box will open underneath it with a row of icons to send to twitter, etc, and for our purposes here, just ignore that line. Under that are four lines with labels on the left (Email & IM, Direct Link, HTML Code & IMG Code) and the respective links beside them on the right. Just slide your cursor down and when you get in this area it will turn into a vertical line (like it is in Word). Simply rest that marker on the code on the last line beside the label IMG Code. Left click it once and it should change color to show it is selected. Then RIGHT click once and a menu box will open, and then left click on COPY.

Then click on the GD tab, and in your comment box, right click at the start of a line after your last line of text, and then click on paste. The line of code will appear. If you then click on the preview button below your comment box, a new box will open above that with a preview of what your post will look like, and the picture should appear.
