I have no idea what your religious affiliations ( if any) are.. but I'm asking each and every one who reads this thread to join me in humble prayer for our member Chris B and Tory and Tony
They're going through the unthinkable right now and I hope that our prayers will help ease the pain just a little.
Thank you

Thank you all, I love that some of the condolances come from the dogs too.  So many people would not understand that.  guess they have just never been owned by a dobe.

Thank you so much. Dave was half Irish, his Mom was an O 'Grady. He had been to Ireland twice and loved it. When you joined this forum I showed him pictures, we talked about ears and tails. He loved to travel, his favorite trip was to Ireland. This was before we were together. He talked last summer abour going to Ireland in the spring, he wanted to show me your country. He was most impressed with how friendly everyone they met was. I know I am rambling, His wake is this afternoon, not a good Irish wake, but he was a partier so after the funeral tomorrow we are having a party at our house. Chris

Have a good party for Dave. He will shine down on you all and be glad that you are all together and toasting him:)

we'll raise our glass to him from here.

We (too) want to visit Ireland in the summer maybe.

Thank you all.  Got through yesterday, and done.  We had a great party with about 50 friends and family.  I didn't have to do a thing.  We ate in the garage, Dave's favorite place, next to one of the mahogany boats he built. It turned out to be a nice day, about 50 and sunny, that's nice for upstate NY in Jan.  I had one friend who stayed with me last night.  Kids go back to NYC tomorrow, then back to work on Tuesday. Then we'll see what happens.

Thank you all for the support.

This is such a wonderful family. Dobermans brought us together and our devotion and love for them slowly but surely melted toward each other, and keeps us here. When one of us hurts, all of us do.We share the gains and the losses...

I hope this helps anyone in need. There is so much wisdom in these anonymous words:

Mourning

Weep what you must weep, not only for this loss but for all the other losses you have sustained in this life.

Surrender into the memory of what once was, and can no longer be.

This winter of your life will pass, as all seasons do.

Stay in your season of winterness as long as you need be, for everything you feel is appropriate.

There is no right way to grieve-there is just your way.

It will take as long as it takes. It is important to be ever so gentle, kind, loving and giving to yourself right now.

And to let others be ever so gentle, kind, loving and giving to you.

Remember how deserving you are of gentleness, kindness lovingness and giving ness.

No one ever said it was easy so let go, let be, let life do what it is supposed to do.

Perhaps you feel you are the only one in the universe.

But out of your loss is an inter connectedness with all humanity. For you are one with everyone who has ever mourned.

When you live fully, your vulnerability takes you through the shadows of winter where you feel you  may never see the sun again.

To cease living fully because you fear the winter shadow is never to see the sun at all.

Judge not the appearance of this loss.

Behind the darkest cloud of the dreary winter chill is springtime begging to burst forth.
