First off.. I don't want anyone thinking I totally adhere to the new age, post hippie, tree hugging, airy fairy astrology-is-the-bible thingie... BUT ( isn't there always a 'but'?) when Mercury goes into retrograde all kinds of things go wonky. Light bulbs blow out, computers crash, people fall down, communications go awry..The list goes on and on.. so if things are not going in their normal way and you're at the end of your rope.. \Hope is on the way. Mercury goes back to normal September 8 I am attaching a copy of the description of this frustrating occurance taken from Astololgy.com _________________________________________________________________________________ In general, Mercury rules thinking and perception, processing and disseminating information and all means of communication, commerce, education and transportation. By extension, Mercury rules people who work in these areas, especially those who work with their minds or their wits: writers and orators, consultants, commentators and critics, gossips and spin doctors, salespeople, teachers, travellers, tricksters and thieves. Mercury also has an occult side, so healing, astrology and the transmission of spiritual knowledge are also in his area. Mercury retrograde gives rise to personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains. And all of these problems usually arise because some crucial piece of information, or component, has gone astray or awry. It is not exactly wise to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since it is likely that such decisions will be clouded by misinformation, poor communication and careless thinking. Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics tend to be less acute than usual, as the critical faculties are dimmed. Make sure you pay attention to the small print! ____________________________________________________________________________________ On a personal note.. it's been particularly difficult couple of weeks.. two best friends are in the hospital, some of my forum family is experiencing really tough times. Our plumber hooked the filtered water to the outside spicket and the unfiltered to the inside taps (remember, it's Mexico and we dont' drink tap water). The hot water comes out of the cold water faucet and the marble folks ran out of yellow and had to peice work an ugly brownish strip in Mike's shower.

Frustrating times to be sure, so hang in and don't blame anyone ... except menacing Mercury.

P.S. I love trees!!!

from lady Kate: ...Light bulbs blow out, computers crash, people fall down, communications go awry..The list goes on and on..

No kidding?  Well, at least NOW I know why my cable tv has been acting weird for the past week.  On the USA channel, anyway, the sound goes out during ALL commercials.  Every time. It comes back on during the show I'm watching, but out again as soon as a commercial break starts.  Wait a minute....maybe Mercury could just sort of hang around my house for a while longer?  This actually isnt so bad,  LOL

I KNOW.. it's beyond weird... We've replaced six light bulbs all within a week.. Now.. it could be that we usually replace them at the same time and they're ready to go.. but these are the guys that are supposed to last a century or two.... Go figure...and a little more important thing.. be careful walking.. many falls, bone breaks and fractures happen now as it is health related as well..

A gal pal of mine came flying in to see the new and improved sofa that Sofia has claimed, tripped on one of the lines the boys were using to set the Saltillo tile in the courtyard, broke her knee cap right in two.. another friend tripped ( thank God not in my yard this time) and broke her wrist and the lady who is ordering all the lovely furniture for the new house ( which incidentally is going to be delayed yet another two weeks, while we round up the plumber and jack out a couple of feet of rock to find the lines he crossed) but I digress.. the furniture lady... she's in the hospital with an exploded ( yes Gentle Readers... exploded.. intestine.

The registration to our car was delivered to the wrong address somewhere in Wallah Wallah and I have a headache!

Now I know why my Thunderbird wont work!!!! So sad!!!

Kaitie, don't worry, everything (hopefully) will go back to normal, things will get fixed, your friends will heal, and the stripe won't look so bad once you get used to it.
Best of luck!!!!

Paul, Please send some of your cable "problems" my way!!! lolz

Okay.. laugh all you nay-sayers I say.. laugh

just wait til YOUR bulbs blow, your cable craps and your engine ergs..

Love you all and seriously am happy that you guys are all okay. It's more of a nuisance than anything else.. but people have fallen down and gotten hurt..

Keep yourself centered and balanced... of course you already do that.. no?

Well, for once,at least nobody is blaming George Bush for anything........Times like this always remind me of my favorite quote from the great statesman,Ben Franklin. "God created beer because he likes us and wants us to be happy." And of course being in Mexico,it's safe to drink the beer.

Not only is it safe.. it's a law..

Maybe that's why my laptop crashed and burned, car had a problem, truck had trouble, A/C broke. Might be something to it!! (while playing twillight zone music in my head)

Nope, I firmly believe in Mercury retrograde. Just over the weekend, the dryer broke, the a/c went out in my car (in the middle of a 90+ degree weekend), I burned my wrist and my work laptop went kaput last Friday.

The animals have rebelled the past week as well. Last night, 2 cats and a dog made their presence known at 3:30 am, prompting momma to sit up in bed and yell "ARE YOU GUYS KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW??!!"

BINGO tans!!!.. Sofia has become a night owl and thinks it's rude to sleep while she's awake. Up stairs, in, out, back and forth, hunting and stalking a gopher who is burrowing underground.. yawn.. I need a nap..

I'm pet sitting for some friends for two weeks.. They have a parrot who talks and I've been trying to teach him to say "Kate" but for some reason he is convinced I'm someone by the name of "Frank" so besides, " I love you" "Whaddup?" FRAAAAAnnk" and "AWWWCCKK" that's all I can get out of Oz.

Guida the cat is 14 years old and the true spawn of Satan! She's been confined to the house while mom and dad are gone and insists on trying to escape every chance she gets.. she meets me at the door with a mournful ' MEEEWOUT!" rubs and flirts then all hell breaks loose and she hisses and growls, invites me to rub her ears then bites.. Houdini did get out once through some two inch louvered windows.. I didn't know they were open and for that matter how can a cat squeeze through a two inch opening.. she did..

Back to Mercury.... no more mishaps on this end, but many reports of computers, televisions, lost mail, financial transactions.. all going haywire..keeping a low profile... Good luck everyone.. let us know how you're doing

The cat cracks me up!!!!  It's not black is it??

I really did wonder though, what is Mercury Retrograde??  We had a flash flood last week and we were spared damage but a mud slide did some major damage to the house down the street.  Almost everyone had mud and stuff on their driveways, except us!  So is that Venus getting in the way a little?  A God ray upon our house?

I love those little faces

So how long is this supposed to go on? The cats are being jerks, Gauge is pushing the very limits of what little patience I have left, and I got called to the ER last night to meet my husband who was in a minor boating accident (but thankfully ok - he's left with an enormous goose egg on the side of his head from being hit with the main sail boom).  On top of 2 deaths of friends in the family and an error in my checking account that overdrew us for our monthly house payment!

And yes, that's all been since Sunday.  Mercury and I are going to throw down if this lasts any longer!!

Oh Baby girl.. it's just starting. Not til September 8th does all go back to normal.

Word to the wise.. ( IF you believe in this stuff) ( I kinda do after all the menacing things that have happened in the last two weeks)

If you CAN.. put off signing any legal documents.. If you're planning an elective surgery... think twice and put it off for a spell.

Don't despair if phone calls are cut off short, or your computer acts out.. ( it mostly has to do with communications, but health is involved as well)

Anything electronic is at risk to be caught in the Mercury Retrograde.. light bulbs, car headlights, electrical sockets, OMG my printer is POSSESSED!! All of a sudden somewhere between 2 and 3 a.m. it will start to print.. nothing interesting.. just a bunch of cryptic symbols  that I dare not even try to decipher..

Best bet is to join me under my kitchen sink.. Bring a nice sassy vintage.. we'll chat

BOTH!!!  It's Mercury you know..

A case in point. .I went to the closest town the other day to order a truck load of dirt.

"Lo Siento Senora; no tierra hoy maybe una semana.. Try Berta down the street... "

( sorry Mrs. Lady, no dirt today.. maybe in a week..)

Now 'down the street' is another 'closest town..' so far we've logged on 37.8 miles

Guess What.. Berta is closed on Wednesday ( WHO closes on Wednesday???)

'T-Rex' the killer cat I'm keeping an eye on has gone completely Cat-atonic. I can hear her hissing and gurgling something not so ladylike from the front door.. She swiped at the parrot food and knocked his water dish out of my hands.. than stood guard over the puddle I was trying to wipe up. hissing and marking and howling like she was being tortured..

Oz ( Parrot) is dropping feathers like it's molting season... when the people get back, they're going to find a bald parrot and a cat with fire in her eyes, smoke coming out of her ears and a pitchfork held in her teeth.. I'm sure poor Guida will knock them down as they come in the house trying to escape... sigh.. Tuesday cannot come soon enough.

on second thought.....

September 8th cannot come soon enough.. hide.. I'm telling you... hide!!
