'Ello everyone and every Dobe of GentleDoberman.

I have returned! *cue applaus / gentle booing*

This last month has been hectic, and poor Kay (and the rest) have suffered. We went Holidaying in Devon, 250 miles from our home. I took the big dawgs with me, but managed to find someone (two someones) to look after the little dogs. The second day in Devon, I recieved a call saying Toby, my JRT, had got out the dog boarders front door and hadn't been sighted, went online, did everything I could, and someone from one of the websites I posted to gave me a call later Saturday night telling me the little guy had been found on the train tracks.

Needless to say, the person who offered assured me she'd be able to look after Tiffany and Toby hasn't been forgiven, and won't be forgiven. Long legal stuffs goin' awn.

Aside from that, we're all doin' good. It seems a bit weird not having a little man in the house, but we're managing, albeit with a few spats amongst Tiffany and Star the youngest Jack Russells. They're all out of whack, but we'll get there in the end!!

I'll wait until the legalities have been sorted out, and then I'll decide whether or not to add a second 6th dog to the pack. Toby was our Example Dog, and was only the young age of 5, so things are taking a while to settle, but I'm sure all will be well in the world eventually.

Kay hasn't been getting her regular walks...Instead, I've just been taking the dogs up the field a few times a day with the ball. I'm hoping to go on this walk in memory of my last Doberman in January, so I should really put some time aside and get all the dogs in check again, so that they don't wreak havoc amongst the regulars at the park...!

Just wanted to drop back in and let all you Dopie Folk...I mean Dobie Folk...Know that I haven't left you! I'll let you decide whether or not that's a good or bad thing.

Lots of people have been saying things along those lines (apart from the person who should have been saying it...!) and I still don't know how to reply, LOL.

Although it's sad, and horrible, and a very terrible thing, what's done is done and dwelling on it too much will just make it that much more worse. I'm doing what needs to be done right now, and then I'll be able to put the entire thing behind me later on. Hopefully it'll be all sorted out soonish.

As I said, just wanted to drop back and let everyone know I hadn't abandoned the forum and it's people & dogs.

Who you calling Dopie?  haha, I'm glad to see you back but sorry to see that you're reporting such a wretched thing! What a terrible shock. The whole household will be off for a while and I think a walk alone with just you and Kay might be a good thing for both of you.  You're in our hearts sending healing vibes...

I hope everything eases in time and you and the pack settle in and recover soon.

Take care

So sorry to hear! I hope you guys are finding peace with it all (in time). One of my biggest fears is having someone take out Laith when I am not around  & something like that happening...

Oh my gosh, how terrible!  You must have been devastated...and to have that happen while you were supposed to be relaxing on vacation too!  Just awful...well best of luck with the legal dealings, and I hope the other pups settle back into routine soon.  Thanks for checking in, keep us updated!

Cheers people.

We left on the Friday, got the news that Tobes had been let out on the morning of Saturday, the news he'd been killed on Saturday evening, and then couldn't come back home until the Monday, so the two days we knew what had happened, but could do nothing about it, were the worst. He's being cremated now, and I'll be getting a little box with a name-plate later in the week. I didn't expect to, but I feel a lot better being at home than I did in Devon. I'd have thought I'd be blubbering all day because he wasn't here, but naw. I'm not one to dwell on that sort of thing.

Everything's slowly settling back in to place. It's clear that the youngest of the younger Jack Russells is "higher in the rankings". The Brown Dobie made that clear earlier in the afternoon, LOL. I'd love to learn how they decide who "leads the pack" and whatnot...Surely they all want to be "higher" than everybody else. I don't believe in dogs thinking people are their "alphas"...I think they just *know* that we give them everything they need to survive. Whether they know to respect that or need to be taught varies from dog-to-dog. Just my little theory. I've never had problems with a dog trying to alpha-roll me, so it's all good! LOL.

The person who was looking after Tiffany and Toby (who I'm going to name), Evelyn, has a Jack Russell of her own which can't even see an open door because she'll do a runner. There are so many doors to stop the dogs getting to the front door that I assumed Tiff and Toby would be safe there, safer than my other Jacks would be in the care of one of my mates, but apparently not. Thankfully, said friend who was looking after the other two picked up Tiffany before she became an unlucky dog.

It can take between 6 and 9 months to get on the court list...So we've got a pretty long road ahead...But hopefully Evelyn will fork out the cash for the phone calls, Internet access, cremation and extra money that had to be paid to the person who, in the end, had to look after 3 dogs instead of two, and we'll be done with it. Can't claim on anything other than damaged property, sadly. It made writing the note to Evelyn harder. Can't really convert "You killed a member of my family" successfully into "You damaged my property", so I ended up sounding like a robot in the letter. I wish I could demand she give me her soul to stamp on, hehheh.

But alas, dogs get hyper, the house gets messy, washing needs doing, the dishes need cleaning and life must go on. I'll make sure to keep up with the forum as best as my little mind can. That'll push me to get Kayenne back out and about, as well. Can't disappoint the Dobie community, hehheh. Kay's a year old in a week, so I'll make it my goal to get her UTD on training in that time, so that we can go for a relaxed walk, as opposed to me loosing my voice by screaming "Sorry!" across the park to the person with the Chihuahua...
