Okay.. I know we're all Doberman Fanatics... almost 100 posts on the thread tell us so... ( Do you suppose there's a 12 step program for us?? LOL)
Just wondering if any of your Dobermans ( inculding our honorary Dobes) have special and/or endearing little quirks that melt your heart?
I'll start with one of my favorites:
After every meal, Sofia will come to thank us for it. Always has... but the quirky part is, she thanks the opposite person who fed her.

When one of the family enters the kitchen, Reggie has to greet them at the door but she can't greet them unless she has Mr Hippo in her mouth.... Many funny moments with her frantically searching for him when she's hears someone coming down the stairs!

Tony and Tory won't eat when they're home alone. However, when we do finally (sigh) get home, each will run to the dish, grab a mouth full of food, gobble it, run to us, then back to the food dish. Lots of foolishness.

I'll tell Duke to Lay down and stay.... then walk out of the room. Out the corner of my eye i can see him sliding on his belly and peeking around the corner. When he knows i have seen him he will quickly hide again lol. He also ALWAYS ALWAYS has to be touching me. Sitting on my feet or whatever. He will sit down and scoot backwards till he up against me.

LOL at Grainnecal..  Atticus is that way too.  When my husband or son come home, he gets all excited runs to greet them then frantically runs around the house looking for his purple dumb balls to play with them.  As if they came home just to play with him right now!!!

Cleo has a thing about remote controls, if she sees one lying on the arm of the sofa or on the table, she gives you this look and then swipes it with her nose so it flies across the room then looks back at you with the 'WHAT!' look in her eye !   I should add that this all happens in a nano second !

Libby would the "grab more than one toy at once" too - especially if they were Gabe's toys.

She'd be out in the dog yard, and I'd call her to come in because I had to be somewhere. She wouldn't come. Call and call and call. Nope. Not happening. And I'd be in a hurry.

When I'd finally march out into the yard to get her moving, she'd roll upside down and just lie there. She knew she was too heavy to move!

Tory goes into the woods and hides behind a tree like we can't see her. But Kim like you said, only when we are in a hurry to go somewhere. Lol

Niko has to give me hugs and kisses.  Not the normal doggie kisses; he will belly up to me when I'm on the floor with him look me in the eye and I'll ask if he wants kisses and he does his Darth Vader sigh and will place his closed mouth against mine and then place his neck on my shoulder and his head behind my head and until I put my arms around him he will keep nudging at me!  What can I say? My boy is a big love bug!!  What is hilarious was the first time he did this to my hubby!!  Josh didn't know what he was doing!!

And when he wants to go potty, he doesn't bark or whine.  He goes to the door, turns and looks at me and puffs his cheeks out, ears up and does his Darth Vader sigh.  The hubby says I should have named him Darth, and if we ever decided to breed him that we'd have to keep a boy and call him Luke!!  LMAO!!  He knows we couldn't keep a boy, but still too funny!

Michelle... that's so dear.. I love that.. Niko IS a love-bug!!

Sofia isn't that affectionate, but she does like to put her closed mouth on mine and we breathe the same air.. ( it reminds me of the horses who like to have you blow gently in their noses.)

Ben gets frustrated when he thinks no one is watching him, typical male he wants all attention on him, hahahaha, so he stands on his bed with his front paw on his bone and waits until someone looks at him and when they do he grumbles and tucks his head down and slams his front paw backward throwing his bone back between his back legs and down the hallway so that it smacks the closed door to my art studio and then looks at us as if to say "so there!!!! are you paying attention?? do you hear me now??" hahahaha he really has this frustration issue and it's too funny, hahahahaha

Ginger loves my husband, John.  When he comes home from work, she is so happy to see him.  She gets all flat and wiggly and smiles from ear to ear.  Then he'll kneel on the floor and say, "do you want your hug?" Sometimes it's just too much for her to take and she'll run upstairs and just stand there watching for him to come look at her.

At Sofia's age I wouldn't I would just avoid them at all cost and thank god you know they set her off so  you are aware of her problem with homeless people,I'm still learning Hoss and his qerks he does not like african americans and of course having him being a rescue I don't know why I have a good friend who is Afican American and I have to be real careful there,I'm sure someone else will be more helpful than I.        Dodie & Hoss

This is one of Sofia's little quirks.. If I skritch her right over her whiskers.. she's scrunches up her face and yawns.

Bruno smiles when you itch his butt. Like a straight up human smile. :D

Ladybug always covers her food bowl with her blanket before eating. She likes to take her blanket through the house with her, so sometimes when the bowl goes down, she has to run up and down the stairs looking for her blanket to cover the food.

For me it is just that "look" he gives me that sets my heart soaring.  I think all dobermans do it, cause I have seen it in other people's pictures.

When he is calm and relaxing on the couch or bed, he put his nose down against his chest and looks up at me with those honey eyes.  Oh man, I can't control myself and I have to give him a million kisses.

That Look is called the "I am willing you to come and love me, you do not have any choice" look, my Dolly used to do it and it was truly irresistable!

Bella taunts us from up on the bed, we can hear her her yipping from the living area...she knows she's bad, just trying for more attention!

Bells Doberquirks: When she wants to bury something in the house she trots all around with it in her mouth, acting stealthy. Only old hoofs and old bones that aren't good for chewing, such as rawhide get the honor of being buried and reburied. Usually they end up outside. When we 1st got her I gave her a cardboard box full of dirt, but it was'nt stealthy enough and made a big mess.

Sofia likes company when she has her dinner.. We either join her with ours or line all her 'friends' up on the table. She'll scootch ( it's a word) her kibble all around.. jab at it with her nose .. pick each piece up and chew... all the time checking to see if we're watching.. she'll look out the window.. at her friends.. dining is quite the experience at our house.

Nice new thread.  At 6 months Echo already has several quirks that keep me entertained.

* At night when I'm laying on the couch watching TV in the family room, she likes to walk up behind the couch and chaise lounge which are next to each other with maybe 2 inches space between them.  She proceeds to wedge her head between the two and lick.  I scratch her head or nose and go back to watching TV.  She then wedges her upper body between the couch and chaise lounge and offers another lick for another scratch.  In the span of about 3 minutes she has wedged her body between the furniture and uses her back legs to climb/squeeze through until she ceremoniously plops herself onto the chaise lounge.  She only treats me to this display once in awhile, usually she just launches herself from the carpet up on to either the chaise lounge or couch.

*  One quirk I'd like to halt is her laying across the top of the couch like she was a friggin cat, there is tile on the other side of the couch and I'm afraid she will get hurt if she falls.

*  Echo likes to sleep with her head hanging over the side of the couch, sooner or later gravity takes over and she falls to the floor.  Too funny, and then she looks at me like I did it!

*  I have a crew cab pickup, during rides she likes to lean her body over the center console from the back seat with her hind legs on the floor, proceeds to put her head in my lap and then falls asleep.  How she does it, I have no clue.  Her back legs are holding her up while everthing else is spaning the console from the back to the front and she's happily snoring away.
