Hey Jess.. Would love to see the bookshelves.. please send a picture.. we've done some here in the townhouse that are.... okay.. I want to turn one of the rooms into a library.. Unfortunately the ceiling in that room is almost 25 feet high and too massive to line with shelves.. not sure what to do.. have been working on a design.. but so far.. it just looks goofy.

I love coastal blue.. crisp and clean, yet relaxing ... lovely color..

So how are the projects going this week Jes?  Anybody else spring cleaning???  While I was cleaning, I found this thing.  It's made of wood and about 4 ft. long.  No mounting brackets or anything to suggest it was a shelf. Although it's hard to tell in the pic, that end closest to the bottom is actually tapered (? angled a better word?)  I have no idea what they would have used it for, but I'm wondering if I have a need for it.  Before I toss it out, do you more creative minds have any ideas?

Oh my gosh Chris.. it looks just like the spice rack we are having built to go into an odd little hidey hole in the pantry..what are the dimensions in between shelves?? I love it!

We've finally almost completed the sanding and staining of all the cupboard doors and other woodwork in Villa de Paz.. It's been a tortuous task.. ( I love T's) And trust me when I say, if I ever see another can of  Minwax Dark Walnut stain, I might toss it to the trolls. Now it's time to varnish everything with a satin finish to give these poor old wooden doors a soft glow. I did 10 of them the other day and it's bubbly and icky looking, have to sand it down and re-do and I don't wanna!! ( There are over sixty doors in all, from itty bitty hideyhole cupboard doors to great big closets and exterior entries)

A neighbor of mine said to use Bee's Wax instead of varnish.

Has anyone had experience with this..?? and how do you say "Bee's Wax" in Spanish???

Katie, I know you're researching as I type (or maybe you're finished since your post was 3 hrs ago.) but I THINK it kinda depends on average humidity & how often you want to go back & re-bees wax 60+ doors plus how often Lupita will be cleaning...

Am emailing you with some info I found.

I wish I had something I could say.  Well, I'm finding things to say anyway.  I just wanted to tell you how happy I am that you are so close to getting in!!!!  How many gloves have you gone through??  60 doors!!!  Wow.  That is a torturous, tremendous task to undertake! (hehe)  Can we see pictures?  What are you going to do to celebrate being finished? :-)

Our goal to move in; is August first..

Open House probably in September.,.. I would love to show you pictures, but taking them entails working around scaffolding and ladders, contractors, saw horses.. cupboard doors stacked up everywhere, lots of people with jack hammers making lots of noise, and then there's the mud....lots and lots of mud.. ( had to test the new drainage...)  OMG I've died and gone to Home Depot hell.

The design commitee nixed my drawings for my bell tower( too tall.. they made a ruling two years ago that nothing could be higher that two and a half meters...)  so we're redesigning and going to get it pushed through by calling it a garage!! HaHAH!!

Marti, thanks for the recipe for the bees wax.. now if I can just get all those bees to cooperate, I'd be in wax paradise.. Can I use it on my legs???

Gloves? Oh Chris... boxes and boxes of those latex gloves.. we hand them out to the merry workers like halloween candy..

Still having fun and would recommend a major renovation to anyone with little to no brain matter.

Actually although I adore yellow... ( gotta be careful with big walls and big rooms.. it can get like you're stuck inside a tub of butter... ) ( hmm on second thought.. that's not a bad idea.. but I digress...

My bedroom is all scarlet and brown velvet with a touch of gold here and there.. the four poster is so full of pillows it's like a giant mushroom.. I call it '"Early Bordello"

Momma would be proud!

But that's the beauty of gold...it's got the wamth of yellow - a little pat of butter that's been lovingly browned for depth of taste.  I had a dining room once in old gold.  I loved it b/c it was so close to brown, but still had a little feeling of yellow.
