Mike and I took off for a mini-moon this weekend, taking our girl with us..
There's an incredible boutique hotel that is pet friendly in the small seaside village of San Quintin.
Upon arriving, the manager said:
"yes.. of course Sofia is welcome.. we invite all guests, even deer!!"
Oh how she loved running the waves and sniffing each and every shell and sand dollar.. The bay is pristine and the sand, usually sugar white, was covered with so much mica, as the water receded the shore looked like a gold lame evening gown.
San Quintin is noted for their wonderful clams, and yes there was a family digging them out to bring to the restaraunt to steam for them.. Guess who got right in the middle of the clam dig? Uh huh.. our very own diva otherwise known as the gringo deer!
Little folks, big folks and even a cocker spaniel fell in love with her.. she was engaging and even though she graciously declined the offered tuna sandwhich ( too much mayo) she was quite the attraction on the beach.. we took a suite of rooms, so she had three beds to chose from.. A huge spa tub which she thought twice about.. then took the plunge getting all the sand out from everywhere.. as bougainvilla blossoms wafted through the open windows.
It was a spectacular weekend. she travels well and loves new sights, sounds and smells..

Yes, she really loves to go with.. She knew of course, what we were planning on Saturday morning.. watched us get the suit case out and pack a few things.. stuck to us like the proverbial velcro and let us know in no uncertain terms that we weren't getting out of here without her.She must have made a half dozen trips up and down the stairs, chasing after us and trying to help pack.

Road trips mean junk food ( in her case a half a potato chip) and different stops along the way to look out over the vistas new to us and to her. Sofia loves to gaze.. She had her very own balcony over looking the beach and the  bay and shared a sunset with us.. nose twitching, eyes half closed.. Have you ever watched your Dobe 'taste' the air? It's quite amazing.. cheeks puff in and out and the chops get licked.

Sounds like a "priceless" trip was had by all three.

Gringo Deer, eh?
