I know I've complained in the past about my father in law and his narrow minded views on Dobermans and his inability to budge on not meeting Phin.

However, last night we had a surprise visit from my father in law, which in it's own is odd, since he never visits without calling ahead.

Anyways, on to the reason I could use some prayers and general positive energy.  We were informed last night that my father in law has Stage 4 Kidney Cancer that has metasticized to his lung and liver.  He's having a biopsy this week to see what grade the cancer is, so that they can draw up a plan of treatment for him.

Please say a little prayer for him, he's only 64 years old and the only parent that my husband has left (his mom passed away at the age of 39 from a massive heart attack).

Sir-Phin,  Just read this, sorry I'm so late.  I would like an update, how is your father in law doing?   My husband has stage 4  kidney cancer.  The Drs. found it 3 years ago, removed part of his right Kidney, and did CTs every 3 months, the "routine" ct in March this year showed it has traveled to the lungs (hence stage 4).  He had another surgery in March, then, he had a thermal ablasion on a tumor in his right lung, and radiation(sbrt) on the two in his left lung.  We go to the oncologist  on Tuesday to see about chemo. All that being said, DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE!!!!  There are some amazing things going on, get him to a good hospital, and get him to do what ever it takes to fight this thing.  There is no cure, but maybe they can keep it under control as they have with Dave.  Keep me informed.

I'm so sorry....Like ChrisB said, don't give up hope, they really can do a lot these days.  The key is finding the right Dr and a plan that is best for you.  I wish him the best of luck in his fight...

Thank you all, has anyone heard from Sir Phin?  I can't get them off my mind.  There is really so much that can be done, and Lori, you're right the key is the right Drs.  Lets hope Phin's father in law gets what he needs.
