Great dogs!!  One of Dakota's best friends is a great dane, and she also happens to be one of the best dogs I've ever met.  She's Dakota's "Track and Field, Distance Running, Sprinting, and Tracking Coach" lol.

Well she does her normal running around in the yard, and the house... steph takes her for a few mile walk after work.  (no running on pavement) She gets out with the other dogs a few times a week, and runs around until she passes out lol.  Raven (our neighors dane) gives her the best workout, she's super fast, and 3 strides and she's across the yard it seems, so she keeps Dakota busy.  If i'm not working on the weekends, we hang out with the neighbors and normally have a fire in one of our yards, and the dogs are out loose in the yard the whole night, chasing each other around, and stopping for the occasional sip of water.  Most of the people I am friends with have dogs, so I would say she runs probably more than your typical pup.

Your little girl is high energy. Must take a lot to keep up with her.. How is she doing with the kitties?

Have you investigated agility? I think with the way Dakota focuses on you and loves to learn, she would be a natural at it.. Would make for some awesome vids as well.

We can tire her out mentally, but there's about a zero chance of tiring her out physically.  The only time she really gets tired and has had enough activity is when she plays with the othe dogs.  If she's wound up, especially at night, time for a training/play session and that wipes her out.  She can go for hours running in the yard, but luckily she's not super hyper all the time, most of the time she's pretty laid back.  I've thought about agility, and I want to look into some of the starter sets, or even making some of my own for the backyard.

The cats are getting more and more used to her now, she doesn't understand why they don't wanna play, and looks confused when they run away from her.  Fenny, (who is more like a dog than a cat) was awesome last night, we were letting Dakota go upstairs for the first time, and he stayed 1 or 2 steps ahead of her, and would lay down till she got up, then move 1 or 2 more steps.  It was like he was encouraging her and showing her it was ok.  He's the best with her, he'll let her sniff, and he'll stay close when she's calm, but the second Dakota goes into play mode he's out lol.  The other 2 cats really don't want much to do with her, and we have plenty of places they can go for some alone time.  She's not aggressive towards them at all, more confused why they don't wanna play than anything.

Beautiful Danes!   I have always loved those dogs, they are so gentle and sweet.  I just tend to shy away since so many seem to have health problems.  the Harlequin have always been my favorite they are just so beautiful.

As far as health issues honeslty I have had none with mine,my oldest will be 9 in January.I did my research/homework and am very happy with both of them I got them from the same breeder who in fact I just spoke with last week,we keep in touch about "the boys" NO I never would go get a dane out of paper or from a farm.Note about this breed, the Harls are the headstrong, stubborn ones out of the bunch!! LOL
