Oh my what a sad few days :(

I have started on my spring cleaning early for a change gutting the rooms including drawers and closets etc. reorganizing everything and while in the laundry room emptying the drawers I found Ben's booties for the beach and his booties we got him right after the original biopsy for his feet, started crying immediately as he didn't get to wear his polka dot booties at the beach but once; then I opened the upper cabinets and there were all his meds I did ok till I reached for his green algae and then lost it again, then I found his "cool bed" that I got this past fall for this coming summer on the porch for those hot days :(( never opened; then the other side of the laundry room I found the zippered case where I put all his toys and his walking harness right after he died; but then I turned around and there was his wagon pulling harness still hooked up to the pvc pipes that went on his wagon - more tears uncontrollable; had a really long cry for hours, then after dinner my husband and I went into the laundry to discuss some changes to the room and I found the mop bucket with Ben's leash still attached where I taught him the first few weeks to pull the laundry around for me :(( OMG I was so devastated. I am glad I did the room in two sections or I would have been totally unable to function.

I had not wanted to go in there an strip the room for fear I would have these breakdowns but I figured after 3 months I could handle it, I guess not......I can't even mention his name without crying instantly.....and on the way to lunch today we saw a rottie in the back of a pick up coming from lowes home improvement (I hate dogs in open pickups!!!! ) but that dog was Benie - a spitting image of him!!!! oh lord we both cried all the way to the parking spot.......it's so hard......

We are trying to find a precious rottie to fill the void but it isn't working.....can't find one that tolerates little dogs AND cats it's usually one or the other not both, but we are still looking.

Oh by the way, Rocko the rottie we tried out that got along with Pepe, his foster parents decided that weekend with us was too much they couldn't give him up again so they have adopted him - I figure that was our purpose in his life - to show them they needed him.

We also saw SugarBaby the pit bull we wanted and tried out that Pepe would not accept, we walked her and played with her at the pet store and reconsidered me rotating dogs but it just doesn't make sense to do that to pepe.....I have found a rottie that enjoys cats but need more info so far no one is answering me......that's the way it goes......

Ok so I shared my sorrow of a really sad few days. I will be getting a pretty box to put all of Ben's things in for safe keeping, I just can't do anything but keep them safe......so sad, just so sad......

Talisin, I was so so sorry to read about Benie's passing when I got back from my own hiatus; even knowing it was coming, it's never easy to lose a precious member of the familly.

I am glad to see you are still around, though!  You will find the Right new member to fill the hole in your family and give us another 'honorary dobie'.  ;)  But with so many conditions they have to meet, it will take someone really special to fit that honor.

Happy to hear that Rocko found his forever home, even if it wasn't with you.

Licks and nose bumps from Koko, and hugs from me!

Right there with you Tal... I so feel your pain.  I'm still off & on crying with missing Roman. Some days are definitely harder than others.  I know there is another perfect dog out there that God will match to your loving home at the right time.  You're such a wonderful Mom to all your fur babies, when the right one comes along, he or she, is definitely gonna be one very lucky dog!

I am actually hoping for two rotties this time 'round, we swore we wouldn't have another rottie it's so heartbreaking but he won us over and we want two. :))

I think of Roman ALOT when I think of Ben they were so close in their passing, so sad that they both left this world so soon......

Oh that photo is so cute.

Tal our hearts are with you at this time, it's so hard not to be reminded of him when his gentle soul nudges you towards remembering. Some day the memories will be easier to bear, I can't imagine having all that stuff around to remind you of him, but what else could you do? At least when my Dolly died she was living with my ex and I did not have her effects all around me. To this day I only have a few photos.....:(

We saw Zanny Boy the Rottie the other evening, his human Mommie was worried because he wasn't eating Anything. He had lost 9 lbs, which, in a way is good; he still has another 4-5 on him at 98 lbs. I suggested maybe a tooth problem, as he did not respond to Bees kisses as usual.

But he was well enough to play, and they played Very well together.

You should have seen B she was quite submissive and would flop herself down in front of him, then stretch out and scooch herself along like a frog with her belly flat and her legs out behind. IT WAS the CUTEST thing! All the while her tail in the air and her lips on his. She did this about 10 times in her happiness// we laughed.

awww how cute of B.....I hope Zanny gets to feeling better good lord we can't lose another dog buddy so soon.....

It is hard with Ben's things, and we have two gorgeous pics of him that a professional photographer made two days before Ben died, how appropriate, he wanted to take pics of the cars we have for a project but saw Ben and heard his story and wanted to take a bunch of Ben :) so we have a cd full of great pics......but those pics hang in the hall with a plaque and we have his statue to dedicate to the memorial garden this spring it sits in the living room and mom got us two huge paw prints that have a little window in the big pad for a picture of the animal and little brass plaque she said Ben had such large feet he deserved two paw prints for our garden :)) it sits in the living room too. So there is no escaping him.

And it was so sad last night, we were talking about a rottie that needs donations and how he looks like Ben and his story is so parallel etc. and pepe heard us using Ben's name over and over and when he went to eat he passed his own bowl and ran over to where Ben's bowl used to stand to check and see what Ben was going to eat :((( that's something he always did Ben tolerated it well, but it was sad to see pepe run over to an empty spot and look lost not understanding since we were talking about him. And we can say Ben's name and the little gray cat that slept on Ben will come running to see if Ben has come home again and when he realizes Ben isn't here he screams and runs down the hall. It is so sad.......

Sad to hear that Pepe still thinks Ben might be there getting fed. You are going to have a wonderful memory lane for Uncle Benjamin, all those special pieces and pro photos //everything.

Yesterday my girlfriend called she had been crying all day, our Zanzibar Bunny Rabbit was diagnosed with the Big C, very sad to say:((((( He still ran to the door when she asked him if he wanted to go visit Julia and Bella! They came over to give him some good times. He is on an appetite increaser that seemed to be working as we gave him 2 servings of Bess kibble with broth. I reminded her to get thet green algae. I tell you Zanny is one of the sweetest souls on this earth, not a mean bone in him, and has always been well mannered even when he came as the runt, 9 years ago. He lets out a growl that sounds so mean when you pet him, but it's just his way of being verbal....BTW he is of national champion stock.

xxxx

Thinking of you, hope you locate your next dog(s!) come just as soon as the time is right.

Is your hubbys hand better? I think of that often, with my finger injury taking so long to heal. I hope that his is getting better faster by now:)

hahahahaah that's too funny !!!!! it is late when I post you know that right hahahahaa I will have a great laugh over that for days.....and yes I have heard a bunny growl hahaha my friend had a HUGE rabbit I mean this rabbit weighed in at around 30 pounds yes I said 30 and was about the size of a beagle!!!! so when you were describing a bunny I just naturally thought "oh someone else has one of these weird bunnies" hahahahaa toooooooo funny. They named their bunny Voodoo Rabbit no wonder he was a bit scary when he "growled"
