It's a sunny 25 degree day here today, so Ziva and I drove out to the country and took a hike through the woods, past a creek and through a field.  It was great until we heard gunshots not too far away and then came upon the remains of a field-dressed deer.  Ooops...forgot it was deer season, so we got in the truck and came back home, but we had a really good 45-minute outing before we left.

This is one of our favorite places to run.

Gunshots?  Is that what we hear off in the distance?

Nice to look at, but much too cold to jump in today.

What's in there?  A bird? A rabbit? A deer????

Listening to crows in a nearby tree making all sorts of noise.

My pretty girl.  I love her SO MUCH.

Ziva is drop dead gorgeous!! What a face!! I just want to kiss those whisker spots.. I love the one of her on high alert with her paw in the air and oh my how the sunlight just bounces off her coat..

Glad you're feeling better.. Food poisening is nothing to mess with. Good that you're up and out.. Ziva sounds like a therapy dog.. knows when you need her to just sit by you and lend that Doberenergy.

Thanks, Lady Kate.  Ziva has an uncanny slick and shiny coat.  Her hair is so short and so soft that it almost feels like petting a seal instead of a dog.  I've never had a dobie that had such baby-soft hair before.  The sun sometimes glares off of her!

What  gorgeous girl she is, thanks for sharing and it looks like you are having a great autumn :) love that collar by the way :)

Ziva's a beautiful girl . A very very nice coat . I know you're proud of her .

It's fun to watch them in the woods chasing all the smells . I know if Jewel would have seen the water , I'd be carrying home a pup-sicle .

Find her a hunters orange vest . On line somewhere there was a lighted blinking collar . If I find the site , I'll post it . You don't want her looking like a deer this time of year .

AAA+++ dog

That is for sure. I had a fawn female get out once in Virginia this time of year and she never came back. A friend of mine was of the opinion that in the dusk of the evening, some hunter mistook her for a spike buck.

If you're looking for a vest the Bass Pro Shop has them, I'm sure Cabellas in the US would carry them too.  I wanted to get a hunter orange coat for Dakota but all they had was the summer vest, meant for bird dogs I guess.  You definitely wouldn't want someone mistaking her for a deer!

I am definitely going to invest in an orange vest for us both if we are going back to our favorite spot here.  We stay pretty much in the wide open field area, but it's all part of the State Park acreage, and because it's such a remote area, several hunters go in the adjacent woods.  Better safe than sorry, though.
