Well lets start this off with - Except for the head trauma information (see its not a smart bump thread) last nights vet appt went excellent! They are such a hit there! Cisco is 51.6 and Raven is 30.4 lbs. She was sooo good for Dr Lisa and Cisco just laid in the waiting room watching his sister get examined and playing with the techs!

So we get home and get settled in for the night. I zonked out on the couch before I could put them to bed so josh in all his wisdon just let the 3 of us alseep on the couch and went to bed... Good thing I guess... At 330 I wake up to a wretching sound coming from the other side of the couch. Cisco proceeds to throw up right on Raven's back! Guess what it was... The Skin he had swallowed and I thought was put out in the trash last week.... Guess josh didnt take that can out in the laundry room and cisco went in and swallowed the thing whole again! I tried to explain to him that it could kill him and he just licked my face and walked away! I have now put the dreaded stinky vile thing in the proper outside garbage can!  So we go out for potty and come back in and they curl back up together in Cisco's crate.. I go to bed because josh is now up for work... At 530 I hear them whining and whining and whining... So instead of our usual 630 wake up potty breakfast routine we are up a whole hour earlier... YAY ME!

So back in the house for some breakfast and play time... Play was getting a little rough so I call off Raven (yes she is the bruiser in the bunch) and before I could get to them she takes a big snap at Ciscos nose and BAM we have a gusher! I forgot how bad dog noses can bleed!!! there was blood everywhere and I was sure he was going to need stitches (or a new nose!) After I got him cleaned up it was basically just a long scratch across his muzzle and onto his nose!

Needless to say I am on overload with the last 24 hrs ( did i mention prior to leaving for the vet the little one decides to go billy goat on me and climb our retaining walls into my neighbors yard???)

I think I need a spa day!

Oh my, oh my...!!  That's all I could think when I read that.  The tag team effort of those two must be exhausting.  I get woken up a good 30-40 minutes sooner than I need to because my darling Eli lets Steve break the bedroom door down (granted, it's already broken so it doesn't take more than a strong dober-WHACK) and Steve comes running in, full speed, to leap up and tackle me in the bed.  Once he's up, he's OH SO SWEET, in that he creeps up to nose my face with the, "Mommy!! Lets play!!" face.

Hug hug hug.  Spa day?  I say go to a movie for a 2 hour break from everyone and it only costs 10 bucks.  ;)  That's what I do.

It amazes me at what these dogs can swallow!

I ( used to) give Regan a large rawhide retriever roll after dinner. He was only allowed to have it for 20 minutes and then it was taken away from him. The other night I gave it to him- it was half the original size, but I was watching him. All of a sudden I looked and it was GONE. The whole thing was gone. Thinking it got pushed under furniture, I started crawling on the floor looking for it. Then I realized where it was...I could NOT believe it. First, it took seconds to disappear. Secondly- how could he have possible swallowed something that big???

After thoroughly blaming myself for being really STUPID, then I started to worry. Bloat was immiment, I was sure.

I put Regan to bed. he lay down and was fine for 10 minutes. Then he began to get restless. I heard a low rumbly moan, so I got down on the floor with him. Paranoid I was. I got dressed, fully expecting to have to rush him to the emergency vet clinic! I knew better than to give him those darn things! Even though I supervised him- look at what  happened!

Al of a sudden, he wretched. Up it came onto my bedroom rug. A HUGE retriever roll- intact. I could not believe what I was seeing. Needless to say, I was never so happy to have to clean a rug up.He felt so much better. I will NEVER EVER give him rawhide or pig skin in any form again. No matter how small...NONE.
