It was a wonderful day, celebrating Independance Day here for all the gringos in Bajamar.
At least 200 people from all over came and shopped, ate and enjoyed the art work and booths that lined the large parking lot.
Some of the people brought their dogs to join in the festivities and of course The Grande Dame took center stage.
What a wonderful example of "the Gentle Doberman" she was !!!
At one time she was surrounded by no less than six children and four adults; each one taking turns as she "allowed" them all to pet her, love her up, snuggle and remark. " I never knew a doberman was so gentle and loving.." She met each and every person with a nod and a lean.( and hey RnD..no one.. not one single person referred to her as a GOAT!!) LOL!!
The only objection was from a Beagle Wannabe who shivvered and growled at her.. Her Ladyship was not amused.. just gave the pup 'that look' and peace resumed..

Lol you "gringos" crack me up!

What a great day you had. Sounds like her majesty was a perfect representative for the breed. I can just see the beautiful queen being admired by all. Afterall in her eyes that is why everyone was celebrating right lol. They are the most regal breed of all.  BTW, the only time mine got referred to as a goat was when she had her ears posted lol the kids at the gradeschool were so cute they would run up and ask "is that a goat?" I don't blame them the posts kind of looked like horns.

I liked having fawns, blues and even the reds they are just not so intimidating to other people. People are less afraid because that isn't the color that they usually see in all the scary movies or media hype. So they tend to give them a chance before passing judgement. I cant tell you how many times people will clear the pathway when we walk the dogs and you can hear them whisper that is one of those Dobermans. We recently had a very large Ironman event in town (triathlon) that people come from all over the world to compete. I brought Romeo down for some socializing in large crowds. I cant tell you how many compliments we received on what a well behaved boy he was. We had a few parents afraid to let their kids pet him, but they were quickly put at ease by his calm demeanor. Did I really say that using calm and Romeo in the same sentence lol. He is getting better though SLOWLY. We are raising him slightly different seeing he will be doing Schutzhund. We want him to exude confidence and he does.

Kate you are a great Doberman owner and her majesty is lucky to have found you. I love to read your stories about her.

Thank you D.

Yes. We are truly blessed to have Sofia in our lives.. Her impeccable manners and calm demeanor sometimes defies the description I read about dobermans. ( She's chewing on a stalk of celery right now, watching herself in the mirror)

This forum has been a source of joy and inspiration for us and I am so thankful to you and everyone else who have been so generous in spirit.

Hey Gringa sounds like you all have a fun time! She is sooo pretty who wouldn't want to touch her!! Can't wait till my brat gets to be a nice adult. Lately she is ignoring me and I may be sending her off to dogie boot camp. Seriously! will explain in another post!!

We got some much needed yard work and the house washed on our long weekend off . However we did took the pups to the park and poor Sophie got so over heated I had to tote her while the rest fiished their walked. LOL yes I had bottled water with us. The funny part was when we left and tuned on the AC in the truck LOL she laid back like aaaah, they are sooo spoiled.

Sorry I have been missing in action...I am having a great deal of arm, shoulder and neck pain!!

Happy late 4th everyone!!

adiós! from me and my pack!

Thank you for the kind words about our golden girl. She and her dad took a long run to the tide pools this morning.. she was peering into one, trying to count star fish when a huge wave broke over some of the rocks.. she took one look at the spray and forgot starfish, anemones and everything else to get  back to dry land.. SUCH a Miss Priss.

Take care of your injuries, and let's hope you feel better soon.

Lovely to hear that your gurl is enjoying life with the poplace? :) Q will carry his own purse around the markets and has been in the local paper recently collecting funds for our fire service. (bucket carrier)

Kate so glad to hear that your beach is ok, i get so many feeds on Facebook about the oil, so glad to hear the well is capped.

Nope.. not a single solitary spot of oil here in Baja..We're on the Pacific Ocean side. In fact, we took a day trip to a lovely seaside village about 150 miles south of Ensenada. A town called San Quintin where most of the produce sent to SoCal comes from. Acres and acres of green vegetation then miles of pristine white sand and water so clear you could see your own feet! Sofia discovered that Southern seagulls fly just as fast and she ran forever splashing in the warm waves..There's a four star hotel there called La Mision Santa Maria just steps from the bay that is pet friendly and loves doggies.. It's a hacienda style and she parked her regal self right in the middle of the courtyard and accepted all homage.(.She really goes on a I AM THE DIVA trip when in public..)We look forward to going back and spending the night.

Q carries his own purse?? A man bag no doubt (a DoberMAN bag) and now your boy is a fundraiser... You must be very proud.. Is the newspaper on line so we can see him?

Kate It sounds a beautiful place, I almost wish my trip over to Europe coming up was via the US rather than the oppersite direction sighsss. You know i love living the beach life style. I can just imagine her ladyship there.

Q is so funny with carrying stuff, i think it gives him confidence. We walked beside the firetruck around our local streets. Q was rapt with his job and wasnt fazed at all with people approaching him. I dont think its online but could try taking a photo of the clipping.

Also got a new coat yesterday for our cooler mornings, so that i will be posting :)
