I know that lately I have only been popping in to the forum seldomly, but there is good reason as I have been housetraining the new puppy.  I saw Snoopy go from puppy to Big Brother overnight when I brought home the new pup.  His name is Simba and needless to say I let the kids name him, just as I did Snoopy...

I really appriciate you guys(and girls) on this forum as you have helped me mold Snoopy into the fine adolescent he is today.

He is such a cute puppy, I'm sure Snoopy is trying to be a good big brother and teaching Simba the ropes around his new home.  What type of breed is Simba?

Thank you,

We did find a trainer, but after one session we came to the agreement that we (the family) could do a better job without having to pay someone to do it.  Snoopy has been the best help in showing the rules of the household.

Simba is an American Staffordshire Terrier, and he has a very calm demeanor.  He will be a great ambassador of the breed as Snoopy is and will continue to work on.  the thing is that it is still so new that I have had to separate the dogs for training sessions because it is just too much excitement.

Congrats on your new puppy he is cute! Simba is a cute name. I let my kids name my dogs also lol. You can tell mine are a little older in their choices but that is how we got Paris after Paris Hilton and Romeo.

He is a cutie, and I know will be a good friend to Snoopy when he gets a little older.

Hey Snoopy.

Its lovely to see you again and Simba looks beautiful, what lovely colouring he has. I know that Q loves being with his sister...they are however still deciding who is topdog (i think) not sure how long that will take?

thank you so much.  Lately has been a whirlwind, it's almost like i forgot how much work a puppy is.  They mind as well be kids.  I dont remember Snoopy being this hard through his baby stage, but thats just human I think that we tend to forget how hard it is.  Thats why we almost always endure it again.  Even with kids it is the same thing.

I do love them dogs though, and I know that it will all be worth it. Untill then I need leashes for not only the dogs but the kids too  jk.  No leashes for the kids, but the thought did cross my mind.

Leashes for kids is not as far out as you may think. At one time they used to sell harnesses and leads for toddlers to keep track of them. Mom mentioned she had one for me when I was a toddler. Somewhere along the line some bureaucrat decided that wasn't correct and now we have them wondering away from their moms in the store.

Hi rgreen4,

You must be a relative "youngster"  :)  as I remember leashes for children, too.  However when I remember them, they were being used on one generation down!

Hi Lady Kate,

Just saw Sophia's new pictures - she reminds me of a thoroughbred horse (I think dobies and horses are the two most beautiful animals).  Hard to believe that someone would have just discarded such a soulful girl. The hand of Providence placed you together.

Gingersmommy~~ thank you for your kind words.

Indeed providence was with us when she sent this lovely girl to us. Yes.. Sofia is much like a thoroughbred, she even 'side prances' on her walks, just the way the race horses do coming out of the paddock at Churchill Downs.. ( except of course when she's trying to disguise herself as the Hated Hare.. then she hops.. )

And speaking of child harnesses... My mom put me in one as a toddler. I started walking at nine months and have been running ever since!! Might still need one I fear!!

Happy Independence Day!! Hope everyone is safe and our doberkids get through the festivities without too much trauma.. How the poor babies hate fireworks!
