Romeo passed his CGC...Barely

23 replies [Last post]

Tonight was Romeo's big night for his CGC test. He passed but barely lol. When it came time to meet and greet the other dog handler team, Romeo was more interested in nosing the evaluator. Then on the handler away he whined quite a bit surprise, surprise. Like mother like son! I'm just glad it's over now we move on to beg. novice. It's amazing the difference in training him compared to his mother or grandmother. He is just a big goofy boy right now and his mindset is everywhere except what we are doing lol.

I wish we had a cute photo to share I would LOVE one with the cap and diploma!

That's so great!!! Congrats for all the hard work coming to a nice end.

I know what you mean about goofy I swear Steve has ADD.

I know. ROMEO has ADD lol. Some days he is a poster child in class and other days it's like I have someone elses dog who wont listen or pay attention at all. I do have to remind myself he is intact and his hormones are crazy right now. While I love his big goofy ways I prefer to train females, I find they are so much easier.

Wow!! That's wonderful Des.. (although  I think YOU should get the award!!! LOL. )

Congratulations Romeo and good job RnDobermans!!

You know what the worst part of this has been? I teach the rally class right after Romeos class and have 2 of the people that were in Romeos class in my rally class. I'm sure they are thinking you are qualified to teach! LOL. I'm going in this morning with my 2 wonderful girls to do some rally course work with them, so thankfully they get to see the better side of my crew lol.

In our class we have had more than our fair share of laughs with Romeos antics. Like the one time we had to show everyone a new trick they learned one by one. Well it was Romeos turn and we brought out his perch and did his tricks when we were all done he grabbed ahold of my leg and wouldn't let go. He likes to learn and do things so much that when we stop he goes through this awful humping stage lol. It is more a less a "I like this work so much I don't want to quit" I've had a couple trainers tell me not to come down on him to hard for it because it is not your typical dominance issue. Not that I stand back and let him do it either but I just don't want to crush his exuberance for working. I should have known better than to do the perch work with him in class, he likes it so much he will run for it if he sees it.

I wonder what the next class holds in store for baby bubba!

ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE!

We really had no doubt you could do it!  You've just proven that you are at least as stubborn as Romeo is...

Kudos to you and the boy Romeo! A nice reward!

What is with this incredible stubborness of the dobe? Leo is my first male and like Romeo can be just completely silly.  I have been in a week long battle with him regarding a magazine.

He gets it off the bookshelf..I put it back.

He gets it off the bookshelf..I fuss and put it back.

He gets it off the bookshelf..I use a serious, deep voice, fuss some more, and put it back.

He gets it off the bookshelf..I Squirt Him with the Run From It Water Bottle, use a serious, deep                                             voice, fuss some more, and put it back.

Well, he won this morning! Awoke quietly and did his shredding thing, then let me know it was time to for me to wake!

Proving once again, I am not Smarter Than a Doberman!

Barbara, that's so funny!!

ShibaDobie, I plan on doing that class with Sophie too!

Rick, I love those smileys... and I wanted to tell you, way back in the day, my Daddy was a Scout Master before I was born. I'm the only child, my parents were married 6 years before I was born, {1968}. My Daddy is retired Army too, 22 years, would have stayed in longer, but my Mom went blind, he retired for her.

Des.....

Romeo..

just a humpa humpa burnin' LOVE!!

Thanks everyone for all the funny comments and congrats. We really need a like or thanks button on here!

Speaking of his humping fetish and my humiliation...Schutzhund is another thing that he absolutely loves. In Schutzhund when the dogs individual training time is over they are allowed to carry the big heavy sleeve back to the car. Once you get to the car you are supposed to out them in a proper way and kick the sleeve away so they are put away in high drive. Well Romeo's high drive can be very embarrassing! Usually I can get him to jump right in the truck at which time he is so excited he is humping the air...funny site for me but nobody else has seen it. Then there is the one time I cant get him back in the truck he wants to keep playing his Schutzhund game and grabs my leg and wont let go with everyone watching! He does know how to humiliate me yes he does, never a dull moment where he is concerned.

CONGRATULATIONS!

You have no clue how nervous I am about Laith's CGC coming up next month. I looked over the guidelines and our instructor told us no barking, whining (more than once). If you wait too long Laith will speak his mind!

Any suggestions?

Again, so awesome, congrats you to guys. :)
