Rocket has a thing for blankets, not sure why, he started out with towels to lay on as a baby. I got the first blanket for him when he was six or seven months old and he was so proud of it he carried it everywhere in the house. Of course he has several laying around the house now and if I bring home a new one he is sure it is for him. He gathers them all up and lays on them in the living room until bed time then carries one or two into the bedroom to his bed. This is a picture of him playing with his blanket, he holds it in his paws and throws it up in the air. He loves this position, note the grin, he thinks he's so clever.

Too funny, blankies are so much fun, my whippet loved his too, and he would just know that if a new blanket of any sort came through the front door it was his. Ben loves his beds but because he is so big I have not gotten blankets not all that much room in the house and if he splayed out a full blanket I would be forever moving it to walk so he just gets premade beds poor boy he would love to play like Rocket - what a grin, he is having soooo much fun.....

Thank you puppysable, I love telling stories about my dogs, my kids are all grown and grandbabies almost all grown. All I have to take pictures of now are my puppies.

Talisin, Ben looks a lot like my daughter's rottie, her name was Tabitha and she was a big girl. She had a huge rubber bone that she kept hidden in her bed until someone came in to visit. She would run and uncover her bone and bring it to show oh so proudly. She would let you touch it just a little, then turn away slightly like she was afraid you'd get too attached. After all she just wanted to show it off, she really didn't want to share it. When she figured she had let you admire it long enough she would go and put it back in her bed and carefully cover it up. Tabby is gone now, we still miss her, she was such a big teddy bear.

LOVE the grin!  All my Dobies loved their binkies, but the big time they wanted them was at bedtime. I'd cover them up and tuck them in, and they'd give a long, satisfied groan, and go to sleep.

Niko does the same thing with his blankie!!  It was one that I used to cover up with when I slept on the couch due to back problems.  One day he pulled it off the couch and it was his ever since!!  He carries it all over the place too.  Bad thing is that his poor blankie has seen better days, but after 3-4 months with a growing dobie boy, it didn't stand a chance!!  He loves to suckle on it, and heaven forbid if Boss gets close to it!!

I'm not sure how to take it away, IDK if he'd like a new one!!  LOL

Our little Jake (9 weeks now) loves blankies, he pulls it off the couch and gets himself all wrapped up in by himself and then takes a nap..

Ah, yes- blankets. The nice soft things that Mom keeps buying repeatedly because they end up with a zillion holes in them ( wonder how they got here??). My Regan has a thing for anything soft! I don't believe he is just chewing to be destructive- he will paw and scrape the blankets together to make  a Dobe nest before he'll lie down in the middle, but sometimes he adds the teeth too. When there are more holes than blanket, Mom dutifully gets a new one.

I am so well trained!

Medikay9, you are indeed a well trained dobie mom, I just keep adding more blankets, have only done away with one. I think maybe it became a tug of war toy between Rocky and Trinket while they were home alone. I got home from work to find Trinket, the minpin wearing it, she had managed to get it around her body between her front legs and back and couldn't get it off, had to toss that one.

Michelle, Rocket will suckle his blanket too, but he has no problem taking on a new one, think I could have a hundred and he would spend the time needed to gather them up, he doesn't mind sharing but they need to be in the same room he is in until bed time, then he just wants one or two but doesn't seem to be picky about which ones to take to bed.

Kim, don't you just love that satisfied groan, like they are saying it's been a long day, I gotta get some sleep. Like they haven't been sleeping half the day already. Rocky likes to be covered at bed time in the winter, it the summer if I cover him he grabs it with his teeth and pulls it back in front of him.

Jake, I kind of envy you, I know puppies keep you busier than when they are all grown up, but it is such a great time and so amazing watching them learn new things. They definately will make themselves at home won't they?

Talisin, I have never owned a rottie, my daughter has had two, both were just big teddy bears, it seems so odd to me that so many people think of them as vicious. They are an aggressive breed and no one in their right mind would try to harm their people, but they are sweet natured and if cared for they are very loving.

Last night I put the blanket in the crate with Jake, and to my amazement he slept right through from 11pm to 7:20am.

I never thought of teaching him to fold laundry, bet he could learn, of course it would be slightly damp when he finished. I am so glad I found this site, it's nice to communicate with animal lovers that know what I feel about my dogs. Thank you all.
