Hi,

Really glad to find this forum.  Just adopted a 12 month old named Ruby.  She's really sweet and we are working on training and socializing.  She's great with people but barks when seeing other dogs, even on TV!  Any advice for working on this particular issue would be great.

Thanks,

John

Hi John.. and welcome to the Forum... Ruby is a beautiful girl.. .can you give us some background on her??

She looks like a Fawn in the photo. ( my personal favorite)

Bless you for taking this gorgeous girl into your home and heart.

welcome john and ruby !! you can try to ignore the barking . acknowledging the barking can sometimes be part of the problem if she is unsure of the dogs she is barking at and you show concern she will think it is something to fear and keep up the barking as well as bark anytime she sees a dog ! just a thought hope this helps

Hi, thanks for your reply.  The lighting is kind of bad in the photo as she is in her favorite morning spot in the sun!  She's a beautiful red girl but I agree, the fawn color is really nice too.  My brother has had black, red, and gray and I loved all of them too.  She has had two prior homes one for the first five months, the last for seven months.  She's in her forever home now...  :-)

Thank you for the tip on barking.  I'll try that.  I think you're right about it coming from concern so will work on treating it like it is nothing at all...
