Hey guys!

New to the site and just recently got myself a new blue/rust male pup! (~8wks + 4days?)

It's only been a couple days now but I wanted to get some tips on how to stop the puppy biting. I know its probably playful in nature, but man oh man, sometimes he tries to bite down. I've read to let out a yell and turn away for a bit ... just curious if anyone has any other suggestions.

Here is a pic of my little man at the park today.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Hahahahaha welcome ! Heres how we got him to some what stop and yes it's all play play play and my teeth hurt and you make them feel better when I bite you lol ! My almost 5 month old is still teething lol but here's some helpful tips !

Get a nylabone Gallileo bone he will love it ! The keys for us was toys ! He loves his puppy kong get the normal size not the small size trust me pack it with puppy safe treats or peanut butter but not to much cuz they have sensitive tummies ! Another tip i learned from here and made a huuuuge difference was frozen wash cloths ! They are a arm saver lol ice cubes are great as well but don't last as long so the frozen wash cloth is a must !

Always redirect to a toy :) it gets easier ! If you have a crate start him with crate training asap it makes a potty training much easier and trust me you don't want him peeing in your bed.... It will happen if you don't crate train or it can be the much grosser bathroom experience !

Anyways I hope that will help you ! Don't get mad about the biting just be patient and give him a toy that would feel good on his aching teeth :) also never use the crate as punishment only for happy things :)

Hope this might help :) he's really cute !!!!

Ohhhh yes....most of us have been there.  I remember those days well.  My Atticus turned 4 last month. I don't come to this forum as often since our little guy has turned into a happy, healthy, sweet and well mannered young man....(errr dog?).  First year I had a lot of owies and scratches.  I didn't think I'd live through it.  But now he's so gentle, even when we are wildly playing with him with his toys he makes sure he's very careful not to accidentally bite our finger.  If he even gets close, he will release the beloved toy.  Likes Ares said, just keep redirecting him to a toy.  Kindof like how we give our children a lovey to hug.  They just need that toy/pacifier.            Enjoy your baby....they grow so fast!
