Welcome!

I'm sure we can all agree that we love our dobes with an unbelieveable passion, it sucks that those first puppy months they are just little devils on stilits.  You can read on this forum just how much Kratos has cost us but we still refuse to let him go; he is family now.  I would love to hear more stories of the gorgeous girl...

She's such a ham.  We're working on her understanding that when she has to go potty she needs to go to the door.  I'm really feeling like a parent of a human child; the whole "What if I'm doing this wrong!!!???"  All the dogs I've had were either outdoor dogs, or already trained.  I'm nervous, and when I was browsing the forums, I saw that everyone was so supportive of everyone!  Even if the beliefs were different.  I'll probably be asking A LOT of questions! xD  If some are stupid, I'm sorry!

Yes.. sometimes we DO get a little outspoken.. but it's done with love and protective concern for the breed. The fact that you have so many questions only shows that you too will be a great doberMom and give Roxi the best home possible

Stick with it... read... vent.... ask.. learn..

and be assured we're here for you no matter what!

Thanks for the support!  I'm looking forward to meeting new dobie lovers/owners!  I've even noticed some people are from Michigan!

They will keep you on your toes that's for sure.  It seems like every day they get smarter and sneakier!

Hi Roxi, Roxi is such a honey bear!  You would never know from her pictures that she is anything but a perfect angel!  I remember after we got Ginger, thinking "oh, man; what did we get ourselves into!"  She was our first puppy and I figured she was so bad because that's how puppies act. When we adopt, we adopt for life, whatever may come. (Don't get me wrong, she had her adorable moments, too, like when she was sleeping...)  She has turned into the sweetest girl and has brought so much joy to me and my husband!

She has given me a whole new perspective AND appreciation for parents, that's for sure!  Even my mom says "She's just like a human child!"  Hahaha  I'm doing the nap/eat-n-go.  For example: she's asleep = time for supper.  And it's only 10p.m.  haha  I've cried a few times from stress, but in the long run it'll be SO worth it!  She and I are learning together, and it's got a few bumps, but there's more smooth sailing ahead :]

Roxi - please remember that the only stupid question is the one that you did not ask but wanted to. No desire to understand and help your dog be a better dog can in any way be considered stupid. After all, all of us at some point knew absolutely nothing about Dobermans.

I have posted before that when I was in my late teens and working during the summer, it seemed that every house that we went to to install Air Conditioning ductwork in had a big black vicious (seemingly) Doberman that would run along the fence and inform us how lucky we were that the fence was keeping him from eating us. Then just a little over 20 years later, I got my first one and found out the truth - they are really lovey bears.
