So steph just called a few minutes ago, dakota somehow figured out how to get the bag of treats that was in a tub on top of her kennel!!  We keep all her stuff on top of the kennel for easy access, in a plastic tub, behind where she can reach.  steph found an empty bag in the kennel when she got home, along with a rumblin puppers! I can't imagine how she could have possible done that without one of those extendable pole gripper thingies, I guess i'll have to check under her pillow when I get home.  Steph said dakota made it about 2 steps out the door and pooped something fierce that looked like it came out of a 110 lb dog!  She must have pulled the blanket forward, (we keep a blanket over her kennel so it's not open all the way around) somehow got into the tub, and then moved the blanket back to where it goes lmfao what a brain on the lil girl.  if it wasn't for the empty bag in the kennel, we would have never known.

well, let me put it this way as far as how many treats she ate... she took 3 poops tonite (usually takes 3 all day) and she gained a lil over a pound since this morning, and that's after 5 poops and she hasn't had dinner yet lol... she's been putting on 2 pounds a week so 1 pound in a few hours, especially after pooping so much is crazy lol.  she sure is a rumblin!

The intelligence of our dogs at times is scary. I'm not sure at times if mine are not smarter than I am.

When Red was going through his counter surfing stage, my late sister was visiting. I called her from work and she mentioned she was fixing a cassarole for supper. When I got home there was no sign of it so I asked. She said it was in the microwave because it was the only place Red couldn't get. I am convinced that with time he would have figured out how to open that.

After all the outside door knob on the back door has his tooth marks on it when he tried to turn it and open the door to let himself in.

haha, love it!

so the way she got it was she ate through the blanket, and pulled the bag out through the hole... i'm still not sure about the rest, because with no opposable thumbs it seems impossible lol

Nothing is impossible for a determined intelligent Dobie. I expect mine to start talking any day now.

How many have given their dobes the name Rascal or Dennis the Mennis?

Leo is having lots of fun with toilet paper.  It just rolls of so easily and follows you everywhere.

And bras and panties, once headed for the laundry room, always end up at the front door.

Welcome Friends, to my underwear.  Don't you just love puppies?

Yes, they can get into anything. I now keep the important paper up on top on the counter unless I know I have guests coming, then I put in the roller. Even at 22 months, it is not immune to HRH Princess' escapades. Most of the time all she gets is the empty rolls out of the trash can.

Thank goodness she has limited her clothing raids to rescuing the socks from the sock monster, and not the skivvies from the skivvie monster.

The bad thing is that when she arrived as a 9 week old puppy to a household where the youngest dog was my almost 5 year old Red (105 lb red Dobie) she managed to awaken his inner puppy and now he gets into trouble. I guess it's like a two year and four year old kid, the two year old does something and the four year old looks on and says that looks like fun. Suddenly you have twice the mess.

You just wait.

Love the pic of Leo sleeping on your lap. Brings back memories of a little puppy who now is much, much larger.

dakota has gotten pretty clever, between steph thinking she had a problem peeing, which was great, chewing the hole in the blanket to get her treats, (which we still for the life of us can't figure out) and the way she sneaks things she shouldn't eat, like acorns, is classic...  If she does this stuff at 3-4 months, I can only imagine what she's going to be doing as she gets older lol.  The best is with the outside stuff she's not supposed to eat, (she has never chewed anything inside, besides her blanket to get her treats off the top of her kennel) she'll always take 2... that way, when we tell her to drop it, she can drop ONE, immediately and like a good girl, and keep the other one hidden under her tongue, walk away and chew while not even facing us thinking we're not watching...  the level of intelligence is scary.

Yes, they do hide it under their tongue. I may have to start frisking Princess's tongue when she comes in. I went to let her out a bit ago, and she reached down and picked up something. When I had her in the utility room where she couldn't get away, and under her tongue I found a - rock. Where she got it I have no idea, as rocks in South Georgia are as common as hen's teeth.

Hey Kevin.. SO glad to hear Miss Dakota 2010 is once again "regular" Welcome to Mt. Doberman!

Rick.. I swear Princess is teaching Red all her new tricks and it seems as if he enjoyes it.. Does he share her sock fetish?

Barb~ I have a feeling Leo is going to be one of those 'special' dogs we talked about.. he it too precious for words!

Love these stories!

Red outgrew the sock fetish when he was about 2. I'm hoping for the same with HRH, and that is only two months away!

Our cats have more of the clothes fetish than Dakota...  We wake up in the morning and there's 100 million socks out, underwear, tshirts, whatever they can pick up...  where do they come from?  beats me, but there they are.  Our cat Salem has even built a clothes "fort", she was in the corner, with about wall of clothes around her with this smug look on her face like "yea, now what.  you can't get me in my fort".
