So Laith graduated from PetSmart Puppy Class tonight. At first, we heard bad things about PetSmart training, but our trainer was awesome. He is AKC certified and works a lot on the side, so we gave it a chance. 8 weeks later, here we are. Sit, down, Stay for over a minute, leave it, take it, loose leash walking, speak, here, socialization, and potty trained. We have had him 2 months and a week, where he didn't know anything or socialized with other dogs/people.

It wasn't PetSmart who trained him, it was me. A lot of hours!!! But the class provided good guide/timeline. He is enrolled in the next level at the beginning of the year. It will probably be his last in the area, before moving.

One step closer to CGC!

He got one of the xl porkchops rawhides for doing so well. He has torn it up the last few hours.

Congratulations to you and Laith!  You are 100% right about his training and progress being a direct result of how much time YOU spent working with him.  Ziva and I took puppy classes at our local Petsmart when she was a puppy, and I know how much work is involved each week to make progress  There was a little shaggy dog in our class and his owner obviously didnt do anything other than what was done in that 1 hr of class time, and it showed.  At the end of the 8 weeks, that little dog was practically at the same level he started out at...and I dont blame the dog for that at all.  You'll love the Intermediate classes, they are a lot more 'fine tuning' on the training you already learned.  My dog and I both loved the classes when we took them.  Keep up the good work...show Laith off every chance you get with the new skills he's learned.  It keeps him on his toes, so to speak, and will impress the socks off your friends and family when they see what a smart, well trained puppy you are raising.

Thank you everyone. I am looking forward to the next training. The trainer did say it is mostly just fine tuning skills from beginning. He did say a lot of distractions would be added -- which is perfect. Laith struggles with paying attention when there is a truck going by or any noise.
