It’s been about 3 years now since my first Doberman, Titan, was added to my family. It’s also been nearly 3 years since I posted on this forum. So, I thought it was time to give an update, and thanks.

I joined Gentle Doberman over 4 years ago and spent nearly 9 months researching breeders, reading GD posts, and reaching out to highly successful Doberman owners prior to adopting Titan. Although long overdue, I am pleased to report that 3 years later Titan is doing wonderful and seemed to like the move from New York to Minneapolis. :) Physically, he is 27.5 inches tall at the withers and about 80lbs (a bit on the lean side). He is exceptionally good natured, a typical velcro dog, and very social.

Titan is very obedient, and other than puppy classes I did all of his training myself. I learned training techniques and tips from books and the wealth of knowledge contained on this forum. In particular users Glengate and Fitzmar, whose posts were so valuable in preparing. I probably sifted through about a year's worth of their posts. (I know, kinda creepy ;))

Titan definitely has a few quirks! When he gets excited he stretches. He loves to suck on blankets and throws a blanket over his head to sleep. I’ve also never heard a dog make the same range of sounds that Titan does. It’s not a bark, not a whine, kind of like a prolonged yell...if that makes any sense? I’ve heard that some of these quirks are typical for Dobermans and would be interested to hear if anyone else has a Dobie with the same quirks?

Again, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone and give a little update. :) I’ll try to post some pics on here as well!

Thank you! Ares looks Great! Haha I know what howl you're talking about, Titan does it when people knock on the door before he actually starts barking too. Titan does this thing where he looks at you, then starts making this noise. Almost like he is trying to talk, opening and closing his mouth. I have some videos of it and they are hilarious. Lol

Wow.. Titan is absolutely stunning.. thanks for the update and the wonderful photos..

I think that a lot of Dobermans are very vocal.. Sofia is as silent as a stealth.. the only time she barks ( and oh my how the windows rattle when she does) there;s a really good reason and believe me.. we take note..

Coyotes, Bob Cats, Skunks, and golfers who lose a ball over our fence and have the audacity to look over our wall.. Golfers Be Gone.. she says.. and they are...

Such a handsome fella!  Thanks for the update.  These are special creatures indeed, each with it's own funny quirks that make us love them even more.

Enjoy every minute.
