lol, no problem.  I was a few years late jumping into the facebook thing, only reason why I got into it was because it was a good way to catch up with people i haven't seen in a long time... then it takes over your life lol.

i'll send you the links so you can take a look though, and thanks for the kind words!

Here's a quick vid of my lil girls first practice run of staying from a heel, and then recall.  So proud of her!

Too bad you live so far from Baja.. between you and my Mike, you could get some incredible shots of our doberkids.. Had twenty two of his television II students out last weekend to film the golf tournament that was here..(They were awesome.. even put one of our camera guys up in an ultra lite to do a fly over)

.. Now here's a math question for you:"

Ten hours of tournament, golf, dinner, awards, silent auction, dancing.. How many hours of editing?

At least they don't have to cut and tape like the old days of film.

BTW - the studios have mostly gone digital, but the director of the last Star Trek move insisted on using film because it has the glints that are not there in digital.

yep... most people that want that film look just use 24p settings on the camera.  Not the same exactly, but gives that nice warmer look.

we took our lil girl to a family barbecue at steph's mother's yesterday, what a good time!  everybody loved her, and of course she loved everyone, especially my 4 and 3 year old nephews.  So well behaved!  I was a lil nervous because steph's mother has a small yard, and no fence, and the houses are much closer together than where I live, so there's alot more going in in terms of people, other dogs, cars, etc.  But she never left the yard, but it sure was an acorn buffet!! lol.

Dakota went lap to lap, foot to foot, until she sat on everyone's lap and got some lovin.  My 4 year old nephew came up at the end and said, very dramatically, "It must be reeealllllllll hard to have the life of dakota" lol.... we cracked up for a while, he said it so cute.  today off to another barbecue at my mothers, we'll see how she does with my cousins handbag dog.

they were all great together, what a weekend!  My brother's friend has a weimeraner, and my cousin has a shih tzu, they were all wiped as can be lol.  Dakota wanted to catch the weimeraner so bad, but not even close!  Between my neighbors great dane, my 2 nephews, and yesterday, dakota sure got her exercise in.  Had to keep an eye on steph's 96 year old nana, she likes to give the dog anything she has, chips and dip, salsa, whatever's handy lol.

Sounds like a great Labor Day!! So much fun to watch the kids play and have sucha good time. What is it about people wanting to feed dogs tidbits of bad stuff? I've never gotten it... So much is bad for them, plus they learn that doe eyed "I'M STARVING COZ NO ONE EVER FEEDS ME" look.. Sofia has never begged, even when we're all sitting on the sofa with cheese and crackers or whatever.... yet I'm still tempted to hand her a peice of cheese.. Why IS that???

yea, was lots of fun.  today dakota helped me clean up the tree I cut down, she was carrying all the small branches to the pile lol.

the thing that is hard about nana is at her age she doesn't remember much anymore...  in the first 5 minutes of us being there, she said, "O, look, there's a dog here... who's is it?" 6 or 7 times.  had to watch her good!

yep, I took some cell phone vids lol i'll get them posted up.  My parents were calling me hitler with the pup for a while, now that they see how she behaves and listens they changed their tune lol.  Most people just don't understand what time, persistance, and level of alertness goes into raising a well behaved dog.  I was teasing them that next spring, when I'm sitting with my feet up, and dakota's cleaning the yard, they won't be talking so much smack lol

From what I've witnessed in the vids you've posted, Dakota is as happy a pup as I've ever seen.. You don't sound like Aldolph.. your tone is commanding but not scary or sharp.. you always tell her "good girl" so have fun with your training, you're doing a great job..

Sig Heil!

lol.  gentle but firm is what I would call it.  the only time she gets upset is when I tell her she can't eat mushrooms lol  .  but yea, I always give her tons of praise, more than what's in the video, and keeping the sessions short makes it fun.  plus we always do new stuff, she helps me with whatever i'm doing, and loves it.  We constantly get complimented on her behavior, and I think it was rgreen that said there's nothing you can hear that's better than that, so true.

Hi KevinK, love your videos, except I don't have sound on either computer so I feel like I am missing so much.  My husband said to try a headset, which I am eager to see - and hear - your training sessions.  I agree with Kate; I would love to see a video of Dakota helping clear the branches!  She really is a sweetie.  Loved the stories, too, of your picnics and all the happy experiences you are exposing her to. It is great that you take her wherever you can. When she is grown, she will be a stately, even tempered ambassador.

Yea, I try to do everything with her.  My neighbor was going to take her to work today, she is a groomer, and I was kinda bummed to not see her this morning lol but she ended up not working today.  I'm gonna go grab my camera, i'll try to get wood footage, but if i grab the camera that means she's not going to wanna do it lol

yea, she is a lil diva in the making!!  She is extremely obedient, well beyond her age, but every so often, she'll look at me after a command, give a big snort before doing it lol.

here's her helping with the wood!!  of course, like clockwork, the battery in my other camera was dead, so here's another cell phone vid lol

it was actually pretty cold out lol, we live on a mountain so it's a lil colder in our town vs. surrounding towns.  she loves doing anything as long as it means being with me or steph!

we worked on our non-verbal commands today, and she did great!  was very impressed for the first time trying it.  Dakota's up to a whopping 23 pounds, she's gonna be a lil one I have a feeling.

I don't think people realize how important body language is. It speaks louder than words. And it's the first thing they recognize. .. I have been amazed when watching Cesar Milan in training. rarely does he speak a word. every now and then he does his famous 'hhhhssst' but most of the time it's hand signals and body language..They 'get it' and so does Dakota. She is pretty dang cool!!

yea, she's the shizniks.  It was awesome when she was heeling through the backyard, I put my hand down, and she just stopped lol.  I walked away laughing with excitement since she got it the first time.  she never ceases to amaze me.

Had our little girl at Steph's mother's today, what a good day!  There was 9 kids and about 25 adults, and everyone loved Dakota.  Anyone that has ever owned a dog couldn't stop saying how well behaved she was, and everyone was shocked that we could leave her out without a leash and she doesn't run off.  I kept a very good eye on her because of the kids, (she's great with kids, i was more concerned about the kids doing something than Dakota lol ) but we didn't have to tell her anything today, never tried to leave, and didn't eat any acorns lol.  She walked in the front door, and flopped over and hasn't moved.  I just love people talking about how good she is, and even overheard a few people talking to each other about it.  My cousin asked if I would come train her dog when she got one lol.  Great day, fun time, and yet another day where our lil pup amazes me and everyone around her.

They just seem to 'know' don't they! Does Dakota make a point of greeting each and every person?

Does she seem to favor anyone in particular?

Sofia will meet and greet do a doberlean, then come over to us to tell us all about them. Then go on to the next person.

yea, it's funny.  WHen playing with the kids she didn't even let out a peep, with other dogs and older kids she's much more vocal, so funny.  She went up to pretty much everyone there to spend time, she loves steph's brother though!

yea, she's definitely got the velcro gene in her.  She loves to just flop down on my legs, it's almost like she just passes out haha.  If i'm doing dishes, or sitting on the couch, she'll lay on my feet.  I'm constantly yelling to Steph "that's why they say velcro".
