Funny Things our dogs do.

To me, there has been no other breed that I have ever owned that was/is more entertaining or funny as a Doberman Pinscher.

From the Dobie lean (velcro dog) to the Dobie poke (that long nose going places it doesn't need to go) to little things that bring a chuckle when I watch my silly girl. I thought it would be fun to tell some stories about our silly fur babies. Don't worry, we will keep it between us! They don't have to know we are talking about them on the world wide web.... we don't want to embarrass them. ;-)

3 things!

When I am preparing Taegan's meal I make her sit and wait as I prepare it... when she begins to sit she realizes that she MUST have something soft, warm and comfy to place her behind on so she backs a few feet until she knows she will land on a rug. I have laminate flooring all the way through and scattered rugs so when she sits it is rather hilarious to see her scoot walk backwards to land it. Once situated she is there for the long haul unless of course she needs to do a complete 180 which is the 2nd thing to tell.

A couple of days ago she saw me getting her food bowl and before I could tell her to sit and stay she planted herself on the nearest rug. She found herself facing opposite  to me and couldn't see my face and watch for her cue so she did a 180 not taking her butt off the rug. It was hilarious.

Another thing I love about Dobe's is what I call wacky talk. She lays under my feet when I am on the computer and squeaks one of her toys and has a conversation with it. Sometimes I can't tell which is which.

Oh my, there is a LONG list of these.  Top two:

1. Rip lifts his leg and swings his butt to sit on the couch and ottoman. Deliberately, every time.

2. And he "tells" us lots of things, especially when he's upset or embarassed. His vocabulary of sounds is quite impressive and we find the conversations highly entertaining.

So much joy and laughter he has brought our family!

You can always tell when Jax is about to lay down because he scratches a few times on whatever surface he's standing on, be it his bed or the couch.  Then he plops down so hard!  There's no easing into it.  LOL  And if he's on the couch, he always lands halfway on whoever is sitting there.  He has to get as close as possible.  ;-)  Even at 45 pounds, it's slightly painful but so dang cute all I can do is laugh. I can imagine how it's gonna feel when he's twice as heavy!  :-)

Also, another funny thing he does is go completely wild sometimes.  If I have the back door open, he'll run as fast as he possibly can, circle the back yard, run in the house (leaping over the threshold), circle through the house, run back outside, and start the process all over.  If our pug happens to be in the way, he leaps over him, too, and in fact I think he enjoys it.  He will do this over and over for several minutes while we're standing there in awe hoping nothing gets broken.  Then, when he's done, his last stop will be the couch.  He'll jump up there and flop down.  He's so crazy!

Oh, and how could I have forgotten this!  Jax yawns so loud!  Do your dogs do this?  This is how he wakes us up every morning and when he was smaller how he woke us up in the middle of the night to go outside.  It's hilarious.

These are making me laugh so hard.. I especially love the Dober-Scoot perfected by Taegan.

Momma.. love that photo of Rip lounging on the sofa.. Bella does that too...

I've heard that early morning yawn Jax's Mom.. wow.. it's enough to jump start your heart. As well as those Zoomies he gets.. oh oh. DUCK for cover.

Sofia isn't very vocal.. she says it all with her eyes.. If Bella is in her 'spot' she'll stand in front of her and CUT her eyes to us.. then back to Bella and back again to us.

Once she took  hold of the edge of the blanket Bellas sitting on and tugged it off the sofa.

If we're gone for more than fifteen -twenty mins. Sofia will let us know in no uncertain terms that she is NOT amused.. that it's rude to leave people all alone. She'll turn her back to us.. Should we move to another room .. she'll follow us and repeat the action.. JUST in case we missed it the first time.. or the second.. or the... well you get the picture.. SUCH a Diva!!

Kate, if Sofia could only cross her arms and Hmff in protest...I think they all have diva-like tendencies (even the boys).

Jax's mom, they all do most of the things you mentioned.  And more.

LOL, I love reading the funny stuff!

I can relate to most of them. The zoomies oh my! I like it best when she gets her zoomies outside LOL but that is not always the case. She is a hoot!

JaxsMom, I wish I could have gotten it on video, it was so cute!

New one to add: Last night Rip was feeling naughty and got into trouble.  Later, when he decided it was time for a treat, I told him I didn't give treats to naughty dogs.  He then proceeded to pitch a dober fit: pouting, whining, yawning noisly, slumping into his bean bag and huffing pitifully, then hiding his face behind the arm of the couch...This went on for about an hour.  The more he pouted, the more I ignored him and the louder and more obnoxious/pitiful his fit became.  We laughed a lot.  And he did not get a treat.

Hahaha, that is so funny. I suppose they think they can be naughty and have Momma still wrapped around their paws.

We are in the middle of getting a new bedroom suit so we are moving furniture around. I gave the spare bed and dresser set to my daughter. Right now while waiting on the new furniture we have clothes stacked here and there and everywhere waiting on the delivery of the new drawers!

Well needless to say......Taegan is NOT impressed by the stack of shirts in her way but she won't give up easily. She is determined to lay there one way or another!

Oh wow.. Momma.... Rips little temper tantrum had me in stitches.. what a funny boy and GOOD for you for not rewarding his 'naughty' albeit hilarious behavior.

Black and Rust...I love the photo of Taegan on the sofa..she's definitely claiming it as HERS.... 'Clothes.. you can find somewhere else to go.'

A couple of years ago, we were getting our sofa reupholstered... the guy showed up... we chose a yummy 'fawn-to-match-Sofia-velvet.' The worker bees were carrying it out to put on the truck when Sofia decided that the sofa wasn't going anywhere without her.. plopped her fine self on top and rode all the way to the truck on it..

Here she is on the finished product all dressed up in her Momma's pearls:

How funny Lady Kate! I can just see that and wondering what the movers thought of a big "bad" Doberman taking a ride on their load.. hehehe.

I know there's something wrong Mama but I don't know what!!

My nose tickles Mama!

LOL, she was so funny with Miss Ladybug on her nose, like something was obviously wrong but she couldn't see it nor figure it out.

Thank for letting me know Lady Kate, I don't know what happened. Yesterday when I posted I thought they were showing, but then this morning I saw nothing. Strange.

LOVE.......when your Doberman "Dobie pokes" the bottom of your coffee cup with her nose while taking your first drink of scalding hot coffee! What can I say? She loves me and I love her so even if my mouth is scalded I will just get over it! ;-)

Need some input here........we just got a Maltese ankle bitter (I know but it was her birthday) my 6 y/o male Doberman is acting out. He's not growling or showing teeth but is rapidly bumping his teeth together and drooling by the gallons. Just this morning he went to the Maltese's kennel and gave it a good watering via urination......something he never does in the house. Any suggestions?

lol great stories.

Zeke does this thing I call the boredom/wtf sneeze. It sounds like a normal sneeze, but he only does it when he's trying to get our attention or displeased with something.
