This morning while we were out for our play session before work- About 15 Cardinals decided to attack the bike trailer! They were dive bombing it  and swopping past my head... I was quite scared- I hate the movie the birds! Cisco was not thrilled by this and decided to attack! He went after those birds to each and every one was gone! Then he proceeded to walk up and down the perimeter of the driveway and growl and huff and his walk was hysterical- his butt was going from side to side so hard and so purposeful I thought he may throw his hips out! He then came and stoood at my feet when all was clear and lean into me so hard i thought I would fall over! Gotta love his protective streak!

That is the Perfect word "DOBER-SWAGGER"! Love it Kate! The huff and puff makes me pee a little everytime he does it!

And does he sorta stomp with the huff? ( hate to liken the Diva to a rhino,.. but it sure does sound like it when she terrifies the ground squirrels into early hibernation)almost a whoomp whoomp ( it's a word)

and when she runs to meet us at the door.. her head goes left to right and the butt goes right to left and the nub is a blurr. It's the Dober-Swagger I promise you!

I love that one.. but I'm still partial to the one of him sprawled on the sofa.. You can see how lanky he's getting.. oh boy.. wait til he fills out

No one messes with the Kid!

P.S. I keep looking at the 'dancing machine' and getting so tickled.. Is he really dancing??

@Patriot~ I know wasn't he so cute (well still is!)

@ Kate - I know he is getting longer and taller daily! and yes he was doing his lets go eat dance! My husband had his food bowl to carry back downstairs after washing and he tought it was dinner time. He does the spin and butt wiggles every time he sees his bowl! I'll try and get video and put it on yuo tube and post it tonight - though he isnt a fan of being filmed its like he knows the dif between pic and video!

Some Dobermans ( have I mentioned I think it should be DoberMEN?) are camera shy and in fact I think some dogs in general are too.

NOT Sofia.. OMG.. she sees a camera and she goes into overdrive with the poses and the camera mugging..

I think Sofia is part human! Gypsy is very camera shy... My husband and his ex wife probably have 3 pictures of her face in the 11-12 yrs they have had her...

HAHA Cisco those cardinals didn't stand a chance :)...for mine it was the crickets in the driveway!  He would see them and pounce on them with his front paws then look at them like...come on lets play...but what he didn't realize was he was much bigger and they would never play again :P Oh but he was so proud ha!

The dober swagger is great!! plus good name for it!  Does he kinda walk in a diagonal when he does this?  When Dakota does it she almost walks sideways kinda

Yes Kevin that is it!

Thors papa! He was scared of the couple crickets he saw.... go figure! though he did maul a couple slugs and earthworms... My particular favorite was when he pulled one out of the ground and it thwacked (it's a word - in honor of Kate) him between the eyes!

Oh dear dear DEAR.. I'm laughing tea out my nose!! Thwacked.. Don't you wish you had your camera 24/7 ??

The sideways prancy thing reminds me of the great thoroughbreds coming out of the paddock and parading around the track before the race..

They sure do strut their stuff don't they!!

I thought you'd like my word Kate (it is a word!) Yes that is what it reminds me of too... He also prances when he takes a shoe he knows he is not allowed to have! My stepson lost it today when he did it front of him..

Actually, the Thoroughbreds and the Dobermans have something in common. The relationship of their spine length and leg length. If both are properly conformed, the length is the same. Long legs equal to the spine apparently builds up an imbalance, and the rear legs actually move faster than the front with the result that they skid sideways.

It is especially pronounced in the Dobermans when they are between 3 and 8 months and they start to go through a doorway and hit the doorframe with their butt. Then the funniest thing is they look around to see what happened.

Even as adults, if they get excited, their rear will come around.

Now you understand the phrase in the official breed standard: "short backed galloper". Applies to the Thorough bred and the Doberman. If you have a fast enough camera and are in the right spot you can almost catch them with all four paws/hooves off the ground.

The Doberman just to add insult to injury to the other dogs has a definite stride that is quite natural and in the Thoroughbred is referred to as a Trot. For a still of the motion, the logo on RnD Dobermans website has the drawing (and in the 4 colors of Dobermans) of it.
