We are currently renting a townhome and we are moving into a much larger rental house this Sunday. I had damaged the carpet in my bedroom by accidentally knocking my box of nail polish off of the dresser. The impact of the glass nail polish bottles hitting one another caused 2 of them to break and spilled a pretty large size nail polish stain of black and hot pink.

Yesterday the carpet guy came to try to patch the rug and I put Chico upstairs in his crate until he left. Once he left Chico came right out of his crate and ran down the stairs-tracked his scent straight into my room. He sniffed right where the guy was and promptly began to mark the area.

I had mixed reactions. I was upset that he peed on the carpet, but I was proud (and sad) to see that he's growing up.

Sorry if that sounds crazy.

I'm just hoping that he doesn't do this again> I did scold him by telling him "No" and giving him my stern voice and face and then I put him outside to finish his business. We are moving into a home that had previous pets, so I am concerned about that.

Are you fixing him soon?  Kaiser has never done that in the house, but my boyfriend's dog has on a new bedspread believe or not.  It's like they know its new or something strange....

I was planning on waiting until he was at least a year and a half, but that was before he did his little first marking. I may have to rethink my timing now :o)

A few years ago, my husband and I sprung for a brand new mattress.  It was expensive (but so worth it!).  The furniture guys came to set it up and they were a pretty sweaty bunch.  I had just purchased a waterproof mattress cover with terry cloth on one side and a layer of thin, soft plastic on the other. I put that down first and then dressed the bed and went about the day.  When my husband and I went up to bed that night, we found that Ginger had peed all over the bed!  I was frantic because I didn't know for sure if it was 100% waterproof.  Luckily it was and no harm was done, but everything had to be washed, including the mattress pad.  That could have been a real disaster.
