My personal opinion is that there is nothing sweeter than a huge dog and a tiny dog being best friends. It shows complete trust on both parts, and as far as MY dogs go, Ziva thinks she's as small as the ratties, and the ratties definitely think they are every bit as big as she is....one or two even think they are bigger.  LOL

This is Lucy, the 13 lb rat terrier that was SO attached to Darmok when she was with us.  When Dar died, Lucy grieved for almost a year.  She just didnt know what to do with herself without her big sister.  She nervously paced around when it was time to go to sleep, and could not get comfortable, and would end up sleeping in the exact spot that Dar used to lay in. They were inseparable.  She has been getting closer and closer to Ziva for the past few months, though, in the same way that she used to be with Dar.  Now, when Z takes a nap on the couch, Lucy has to jump in right behind her almost every time and sleep on her, using her as her pillow.  I'm glad that Lucy is working out her grief and is leting Ziva help fill the emptiness she obviously was feeling.  Ziva absolutely loves Lucy and will kiss her face as long as Lucy will allow it to happen.

Have I said lately how much I LOVE my dogs?

Oh Paul how precious is that! We sometimes forget dogs grieve just like we do. I am glad Lucy found someone to help fill that holein her heart.

That is the sweetest thing! I love it when the littles and bigs get along in my house. Patch, my toy poodle, and Zelda do NOT get along all the time. They boss each other around a lot, and when Zelda was wittle-wittle, she tore out a patch of Patch's hair (oh the irony!)

Though, Zelda does get along with Sophia! Pushy and bossy as always, but they play nice :D Ashe lets herself be pushed around, but pushes Sophia out of the way to get to me or the family.

I can't stop smiling at that photo!  It must have been hard for you to watch Lucy grieving the loss of her best friend.  Glad to hear she has found some comfort with Z!  It amazes me how good dobes can be with little dogs.  We had a daschund puppy here a few weeks ago and I was blown away with how gently Dakota played with him!  It was so great to watch.

Thanks for sharing!

Ahhh that is so sad, sweet & adorable. Sad that she was grieving but wonderful that she is able to lean on Ziva emotionally & Pysically. What a great photo. We have 2 small dogs also. Gizmo the oldest 16 years old is the boss of the family & runs the pack. Bella (our doberman) just loves Giz & it appears she feels it her duty to make sure Giz is okay when walking around outside. (At Gizmos age she starting to show signs of hip problems) I am not sure if she senses Giz age, or if she senses that she is the Boss. Gizmo can be snippy & grouchy. If Giz wants to eat first the other 2 dogs back away. If she wants the big bed - Bella will take the smaller. It's very clear whos the pack leader.
