Barking for attention

My family who owns Steve's older brother always comment that Maynard "barks" at them for attention when he's wanting them to get off the couch to play, to pay attention to him, or when he's in a particularly "naughty" mood.  I laughed and thought, surely this is something they have encouraged.

Steve is going through a stage right now where HE thinks it is perfectly acceptable to come stand in front of me when I'm on the couch and bark at me.  It's not a bark like someone is here, and it's not particularly annoying, but he looks at me, "woofs", blinks, waits.  If that doesn't do anything, he repeats.  I of course tell him no, but in a no I'm still reinforcing it.

He's almost a year! I've almost survived all the crazy puppy antics.  And now he's getting old and sassy!!

Just thought I'd share and hopefully gave you all a chuckle.

Maybe it's Spring fever.. Occasionally Sofia gets the zoomies at night... it's really funny to watch as she's usually so ... um.... well let me see how I can say this without offending her Royal Laziness... yeah.. that's it.. lazy...

Mike was snoozing through Letterman last night and she stood in front of him and stared..( Laser stare right through his forehead..) then she snorted (a not so dignified snort..)

that didn't work..

then she 'POOOFED' ( you know the sound.. kinda like when you make oatmeal and it ,.... POOOFS) ( had to have been there)

But I digress..

when the staring,  snorting and the poofing went ignored, she pawed at him.. I mean a great big "WAKE-UP-AND-PLAY-WITH-ME" paw. Did a play bow and then came over to me and did the same thing..

I took her outside

Dakota has found a sneaky way to wake me up in the morning if I "sleep too late" lol.  She will get on the bed, put her cold, wet nose on my face, and not move at all.  The second I show ANY indication of starting to wake up, she takes a step back and lays down... I look up at an innocent pup, laying on the bed.  If I don't get up, the process repeats.  I pretended to be asleep one day, woke up, and said "Aha, busted!!!"  she looked embarrassed that I caught her lol

Cisco does that as well Jes- Has since about 12 weeks old. He is now 8.5 months old. But his becomes a manic, whiney, annoying bark when he doesn't get his way. He also "sasses" me when I tell him something he doesn't particurally want to hear at the moment. These goofy boys.

Kevin- Raven does that with me! Cold nose and kisses and when I open an eye or make a move she backs up and sits there - like wasn't me I swear! Silly lovey girls!

Too funny, maybe not so funny for you if you want to relax, but it must be the breed.  Athena last night got up on her bean bag and I was showing my boyfriend something on the computer.  We weren't paying attention to her for two minutes and she sits up lets out this high pitch bark like "look at me, I'm the princess."  This girl is already a premadonna.lol

Ahh yes the "pat attention to me" bark, wine, moan, or paw.. lol Mopar is notorious for deciding its time for his play time and not giving up.  He will also nose the doornob on the front door, continued by a wine, continued by a sharp Bark.. He continues until he eventually gets tired and gives up, then we go play after his tirade is over.. lol

Bella gets the Zoomies inside too but hers in always when she wants to go for a ride.. When she is outside she is on full alert watching those darn demon squirrels..

Princess comes up to me, lays her head on my knee and then rolls her eyes up to look at me. Usually it's because this laptop in on my, er I mean "her" lap. But about half the time, when I put it down, she turns and walks off. The rest of the time she leaps into my lap, tucks her right shoulder up under my chin and her head on my right shoulder and leans into me. I call her my "cuddle bunny".

Red on the other hand will just come up in front of me, and stare at me. He doesn't move, and I realize he wants something. Usually either water or outside.

Yeah, zelda's like that lol. She'll bark at me and stare at me like she wants something. I usually just take her outside because she isn't satisfied if i play with her lmao. Zelda's a weirdo dog >v<;;

Just this morning, I woke up early to head to work and I brought out my running shoes (which are the most comfortable when you're on your feet all day) and Steve thought we were /going/ running.  I'm trying to be quiet so Eli can sleep and Steve was not having it.  He was literally flinging himself in the air in these dramatic leaps, then when I sat down with coffee, he proceeded to bark at me.  Then bark at his toy.  Then zoom around the house.

These dogs, I swear, they are hysterical even when you want to be mad at their naughtiness.  I think Steve is taking a clue from Princess and has also turned into quite the cuddle boy.  He creeps up on the couch and tries to snuggle.  I was napping yesterday when I got home from work and Steve hopped up on the bed and 'hmphed' as he settled beside me then Miles leapt up and slept on my stomach.  Talk about love! :)

How cute guys! I love hearing these stories.

We've not been home a lot this week, and poor Reesie.  You can tell he is so put out with us.  Doing all kinds of craziness to get our attention.  (like the leaping circles, Jes - those crack me up) Last night we put him in the crate b/c it's midnight and we're all tired (but him).  We hear the "humff".  Shuffle blankets around. Whine. bark. Humff.  Hit crate door.  Whine.  Turn.  Bark.  Bark.  Bark.  Bark....  very unlike him, but it has been a neglectful week.  He's used to having the kids and me all day everyday.  This week will be better.  I hope.

Sassy!!! Laith whines/cries for a minute or so in the morning. I ignore it. Then he goes silent. You hear his crate rattle and then silence again. Seconds later the loudest barks I have ever heard. He tells me when he is ready to get up!!! When I go to the sunroom to get him he is standing in his crate! ha-ha
