When we adopted Ginger, her foster mom gave us a mountain of toys, but one was extra special. We call it her baby and she cannot sleep without it. Even Dexter knows not to mess with it (he usually kills stuffies). She suckles on it right before she falls asleep usually, and if not, it has to be right up against her.

Do any of your kids have a special toy or item they have chosen?

so cute!  Rocky has never allowed a stuffed toy to survive more than 1 day and it's usually more like a few hours.  We don't even get him stuffed toys anymore - He even destroys his crate bedding.

Lori- So far captain kirkclops is surviving well... He is one of those Tuff Toys...

Somebody else on here has a dinosaur and when I saw it had to get the kid one...

He abuses the poor thing and he doesn't have a hole in him anywhere....

Tuff Toys don't last any longer than the rest - I even tried those braided rope pull toys - this is the last one after 35 minutes and at least 3 times of cleaning it up so he wouldn't eat the pieces....

My friend said, 'well at least it tired him out'  haha no, he was just laying down chewing another piece.

This is such a cute thread!  It's funny how some dogs get the joy of destruction from their toys and others just like to cuddle and toss them around.  I'm hoping Steve stays on the "take care of our toys" kick just so we don't have to replace them... but if you ever come into my house before I pick up you'd think it's a war zone.  Between him and the old man Harry, I have toys strewn all over the living room at any given moment.

Rocky is the destroyer of all things fuzzy or squeaky at our place..:) The only toys that have made it through are the tire in the lower right corner of the pic and a kong that's showing some wear....I give it another 6 months.

He's very tall but still very lean - we weighed and measured him this past weekend and he stood 28 1/2 inches tall and weighed 83.8 lbs.   He's all legs....and tomorrow is his birthday!

When Red was a puppy, I tried the red Kong balls - 3 weeks and he had gotten the protective coating off and was proceeding to eat it. So, I went to the red Kong and it would last about 5 weeks and then it would slowly disappear only to have the pieces reappear outside. So I tried a black Kong advertised for "problem chewers". I thought that was a pretty good description of Red.

The first black Kong lasted about 4 months, and by the time we were on the third it was up to 6 months. He was so funny, running around the house with it in his mouth like a big fat cigar. We I took him to board at the vet's, Kong had to go along.

Now that he is almost 8, his current Kong is several years old, has scratches, but is still in fairly good shape. He even resurected on old one with all the teeth marks from I know not where, and he won't tell.
