My parents came over for dinner a few days ago and brought my 6 year old niece with them.  It was the first time Arianna got to meet Athena and she was slightly scared of her.  But Athena was really goo with and and played a lot more gentle with her then she normally does with us.  I was so proud of my little girl and very relieved!  But the best part was when Athena was sound asleep on the floor and my dad starting teasing Arianna and she was kinda whining and crying....Athena jumped right up and went over to my dad using her I mean business bark until my dad stopped messing with my niece!  Then it was a game for my dad and the next time Athena went running up to him barking and I think he might have pooed a little....lol Its so funny how she took to Arianna instantly and and knew she "needed to be protected"

My little girl is growing up so fast :'( sniff sniff

Aww.. I love hearing this.  She's such a good cousin!  Steve really liked the girls I nanny too.  There's something about the bonds between children and animals.  I can't wait until we start our family and Steve gets to protect our kids.

Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. She was the favorite child of Zeus. She had sprung fully grown out of her father's head. Her mother was Metis, goddess of wisdom and Zeus' first wife. In fear that Metis would bear a son mightier than himself. Zeus swallowed her and she began to make a robe and helmet for her daughter. The hammering of the helmet caused Zeus great pain in the form of headaches and he cried out in agony. Skilled Hephaestus ran to his father and split his skull open and from it emerged Athena, fully grown and wearing her mother's robe and helmet. She is the virgin mother of Erichthnonius.

Hail to your goddess!!
