Took Sasha to dog park yesterday and a 5-month old pup named Baxter could not get enough of her.  Wherever Sasha's butt went so went Baxter.  It was too funny.

Sasha's friend looks to be a bit 'in love' with her---she, on the other hand, has the funniest expression oh her face..."GET LOST, BUDDY"

Sasha looks a bit put out . Cold nose you know .

Can't even get a drink of water anymore !

LOL how cute. I use to own a Sasha doberman /bird dog. very smart dog . had the vet cut her ears and he said "why you cutting off a bird dogs ears? But they made her looki great. At that time I was so desperate for a doberman I just had to improvise. She was more bird dog then doberman but very nice looking. her dad was akc doberman and mom an akc bird dog. one of those so called accidents they said. They gave her to me at least.

she was half doberman and half bird dog and yes I did her ears. My vet would do anything I wanted. She looked really good too after he did it. I wouldnt do it again though its been over 20 years ago. I was bit younger and guess pretty dumber  then.. As I said I was desperate for a doberman. He did her ears for 75 dollars. I had her spayed as well . she was a good dog.  When you are dirt poor even a half doberman is precious to you if all you ever wanted to own was a doberman. She was my first one .

I knew a guy about 30 years ago that had a half doberman - half brindle boxer, and the dog ended up looking like a very dark brown brindle colored doberman with the rust spots on its face and legs, but slightly stockier built.  He also had it's ears cropped.  Personally, I couldn't understand why, but he thought the dog would end up having doberman characteristics, and it sort of did.  The dog's name was Krunchie. I would never have cropping done on any mix-breed, but that's just my personal outlook.

Sasha is so beautiful Caljur!  We plan to spay Lola in a few weeks.  Were Sasha's ears out of tape when you spayed?  Just wondering how that is going to go if she still has her ears taped.

Our vet strongly advised to complete the ear process completely before spaying.  I can't fully explain medical reason but spaying before the ears are standing on their own will hinder the ear process.  We waited about 6 weeks after her ears stood to make sure there were no setbacks.  All is good on both fronts now.  Ears have never flopped after they stood and she is spayed, micro-chipped, and has all her shots.  Thus, for immediate future she is out of my wallet for vet-related services.

Unityspirit I strongly believe in each to their own.  It sounds like you cared very deeply for your dog.

Caljur ~ what kind of harness is Sasha wearing? is a collar attached to it? She looks very pretty in that pink!

AKC matching collar and harness (not connected) from Petco I believe.  Took me a minute to warm to the pink but I finally got tired of correcting ppl (well intended) who referred to her as him. Eventually I became a fan of the pink on her.

Caljur, do you know if the same is true for neutering?  Lance is scheduled for 7/12 and I don't think his ears will be done by then.  I don't think I want to wait much longer for him either because I've seen signs of friskiness with him already.

Unclear.  I would speculate that its likely the same but you should check with your vet.  I understand the friskiness but would hate to hamper the ear process.
