I need to get Mooncake a coat, but it has been my experience in the past that the Doberman is extremely difficult to find a well fitting coat for. The relatively small neck size and big chest is troublesome! His chest is 31-32 inches, his neck is 15 and he's about 26 inches from shoulder to tail. Does anyone know of a specific brand that works well for Dobers? It's really cold here (Central Oregon), so Moonies isn't spending much time outside right now.

There are a few people out there that make good fitting coats for Dobermans.  Made by Meadowcat is a good one - not sure if she has a website, but I think you can find her on facebook. I'd google it.

Libby loved her FidoFleece!  It's a bit stretchy, and they last a long time. If it was cold and rainy, I'd add a waterproof lightweight coat over the top of it, but normally didn't need it.

We walked in some pretty bitter cold (Michigan), and she did great in it.

Thank you for the help! It looks like FidoFleece has been discontinued, but there is a similar brand suggested (Highline Fleece) that looks good. I am waiting for a reply from Meadowcat. I may just have to put him in one of my sweatshirts for the time being if we need to go out for very long!

I have several Fido Fleece coats and love them, but the company is no longer in business.

Voyagers K9 Apparel on Etsy is where I get my fleece coats.

You need to measure your dog but you already did that so...

Custom made in the USA - No china garbage

The Fleece coats I got were 'fitted' to the measurements I gave them but they used enough velcro so that they were / are adjustable for different weights of dogs.

Not cheap but I was impressed with the fit and quality + they always got my orders done and shipped out fairly quickly.

I did get some of the China made coats from TSC for wearing over the fleece warmers when it was really, really cold or raining outside (so as to not get the fleece wet on a potty break) but they never seem to last long before needing repairs made thanks to the poor stitching.

One of my current girls LOVES heat. Seriously considering having some sort of heated floor made and put in her crate (similar to what people use in snake / lizard tanks to heat those floors) so she always has a hot place to go if she wants...

Considering the happiness that the girls bring me - I am not going to cry if I have to spend a few bucks here and there to keep THEM happy. :)

Wishing you and your Dobie family the best!
