has anyone had seen diarrhea occur after the tape coming off ? this is the second time this has happened. no changes in his diet. current on all shots. no drinking out of puddles. havn't had a chance to ask my breeder yet, just curious if anyone else has had the same experience.

The taping process might only cause diarrhea if it is super stressful on your dog.  The tape itself is not going to cause diarrhea - skin and digestion are two different systems in the body.

i know the tape itself has nothing to with it. lol. i suppose you could be correct as far the stress goes though. thanks

Sometimes we inadvertently add to the stress of our Dobie by mistakenly trying to comfort them and reasure them. They sense our stress over what we imagine them going through and react to it. If we act nonchalant as if that is just a ordinary event, they will too.

Animals, especially dogs, and most especially Dobermans are so stoic. We lost a limb and it some cases, it's "woe is me", and "poor me" while the dogs get up on three legs and continue on as if nothing is wrong.

Don't get me wrong, surgery is a stress occurance, it's just that we sometimes add to it.

pretty sure i figured it out. i was instructed by my breeder, www.robinswoodkennels.com, to be mixing in with his second feeding vitamin C along with some other supplements. Saxon often leaves bits of it in the bowl, so i was giving another pill in the A.M. Meanwhile, i would take one each time too, just for the hell of it. I've been doing this for about 2 weeks. I experienced the same symptoms as him about a day and a half later and thought how can this be? what are we both doing ? AHHH the Vitamin C. After a bit of research on the effects of taking too much vitamin C, which match spot-on with our symptoms, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I'm obviously going to stop using it at the moment and see what happens. I never would have thought that it could be this. lol. I suppose the timing of the tape coming off is just coincidence.

It could be coccidia, too.  It's nothing major (at least in Michigan).  It's all over the ground here.  And if your puppy does have coccidia, it could take longer for the ears to stand up.  Maybe take a poop sample to the vet just to be sure :]
