Hello Everyone,

I am receiving my 7 week old Dobe pup Sunday and very excited about it! I plan on cropping his ear and was wondering if anyone recommends, personally, a experienced vet in the Chicago area for this procedure. I plan on getting them done around 9-10 weeks.

Thank You In Advance!!!

Have you talked to your breeder?  That would be a good option.  Who's the breeder?

Thank you. I did talk to her but she stated nothing about a vet, just when to start the procedure. The breeder name is Fantasy and she resides 4hours away in Oblong, IL. She is coming to Chicago to drop off my baby so I will just try and ask again then. I just wanted to know if anyone from the Chicago area had a vet that they had personally visited in mind. Thank you for you response!

B. Kiddo, welcome to the forum...

Why doesn't your breeder do the cropping before you get your pup?

Don't you think seven weeks is a little too soon to take the baby home?

Thank you for you response Lady Kate. You think so??? I did not think it would be but this is why I'm so glad I joined this forum for valuable information. Can you explain to me why you feel as though it will be to early?

I don't know of any experienced vets in that area, but you might try some of the local Doberman Club members. You may have to make the decision to travel a bit. Of course the "Chicago area" covers a lot of distance from Gary, Ind. to Milwaukee, Wis.

While 7 weeks is just a little early, others have done it. It will be a little more work on your part because he will not be as mature as he would be at 8 weeks. You will have to make sure you give him a little extra attention, and lots and lots of TLC.

Welcome to the forum.

Would like to see pictures of the little guy.
