Ears might be falling while healing from neuter...

Thorn got neutered 3 days ago and he needs to wear a cone for a good week or two until his stitches heal. He's wearing a soft cone and we're noticing his ears are starting to bend weird because of the cone and how it limits his movements. We try to fold the cone back during the day so his ears aren't fully covered (he looks like his face is growing from a calla lily!) but his ears are still getting a little crushed. We worked so hard to post his ears and we don't want all our hard work to be reversed while he heals. Did anyone else deal with this after your dog was fixed?

Have you seen the inflatable colars that they sell at Petsmart?  It might be an option for you.

I kept Jax's ears posted (without a bridge) with a traditional plastic see thru cone. Obviously, there was a lot of irregular bending of the ears in the cone, but at least the ears weren't folding. Plus this period only lasted less than two weeks for recovery.

We only had to keep Harley in a cone for a week.  We tried the inflatable ones and it didn't really work with Harley's long nose.  But, Petsmart has a great return policy.  I would give one a try and if it doesn't work, return it.

I agree you should try the inflatable one, it will be less likely to cramp the ears!
