I always, ALWAYS make sure Rubies tape isn't tight on her ears after reposting. I took her posts off today and the tip of one ear is swollen. There is a little sking broken on the inside of the ear but it looks more like it was rubbing. Please tell me I didn't cut of circulation and it's just irritated from removing the posts :,(  It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all and I think I've made it worse by poking and proding at it. I'm making myself sick over this!

From Front

From back

I was going to let them breathe a day anyway so hopefully it sorts itself out :(

Can anyone talk me off a ledge?

Lol relaxxxxxxx ! Looks like minor irritation. What tape are you using ? I would put gauze over the sore and repost leaving the tape off the sore area as you wrap the tape. I only use two pieces of tape per ear and liked zonas by Johnson and Johnson. And if you are still using a bridge at this point, ditch it she doesn't need it anymore.

Kendall 1". I cut a piece in half lengthwise for the tips. I was going to ask about the bridge, too. She does get the dreaded "touching tips" when she's alert. Will not bridging help them stay outward? Should I stick some cotton balls in there, too? Thank you for your level-headedness! *Wipes brow*

Hahahaha don't worry I've been in you exact shoes lol try not to stress :) beautiful crop by the way :) yes no bridge will get them to exactly how they are supposed to be, also not bridging will make her use her ears herself making the muscles stronger :)

If I recal that tape is pretty sticky. Is it water proof or the porous kind ? I would look into getting an adhesive remover to take the posts off with. I use uni-solve and ordered it from Amazon :) works great :)

It is very sticky! I have the uni-solve wipes that I rub right where the tape meets the hair as I gently pull the tape so I can get them off without any additional hair/skin/puppy whines. She doesn't have any bald spots so I'm doing at least that right :)

Do you think I should stick with the cotton balls to keep popping her ears out? It is a lovely crop which is why I'm even more stressed about making sure everything goes well!

Hehe pup is like, "anooooooother picture?! Don't these internet people know what they're doing yet, ma?"

awwwww. You are a good Dobie Mommy and Rubie is beautiful!  My Athena had irritation in the same place only much worse... She ended up with a staff infection and we had to take a week off. I would just keep an eye one it. Good luck!

Hi Greek Goddess! I've left her posts off since last Friday just to give them plenty of time and to keep an eye on it. Her ears are actually still standing really well so I'm pleasantly surprised! No smell, or redness, or oozing luckily. Just a little scab that's almost gone.

It's comforting to know that I didn't kill her ear and that others have been through this and made it out just fine!

Athena is a little cutie! I wish Rubie had a Dobie friend about her age so she would have someone to rough house with who would dish it out right back :)

I know! Whenever we happen across another Dobie Athena acts like she knows they are the same. Luckily my mom's lab mix let's Athena rough play with her and she just kind of takes it. Haha. All though yesterday Athena dug a hole under our fence to get to the boxer in the neighbor's yard. :O they were having a blast until we caught them! Haha gonna have to work on the digging.
